"Minecraft: Story Mode - Season 2" has been hinted at but Telltale Games made it official Wednesday. The sequel to the choice and consequence adventure game is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices this July with YouTube guest stars and content based on recent "Minecraft" updates.
The first episode of the second season of "Minecraft: Story Mode" will be released July 11, 2017 for PC, consoles, plus Android and iOS devices with five episodes planned. Unsurprisingly, legacy consoles like the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U are not listed.
However, neither is the Nintendo Switch. This is likely due to the face that the first season of the game is not due to be released on Nintendo's new console until the week after the new season hits other platforms.
'Season 2' gets the band together with new friends
The plot for "Minecraft: Story Mode - Season 2" carries over from the first season after Jesse and friends save the world and become famous heroes. Being famous has its drawbacks and the pack starts to split up until a reason to bring them back together appears. That reason is Jesse getting his hand stuck in a creepy gauntlet originating from an underwater Temple.
Expect plenty of new faces in the second season and at least one llama.
YouTube community members like Stampy Cat, stacyplays, and other personalities will make cameos in the game while new friends will be added to Jesse's party.
Many of the characters returning also means the return of the original cast. Patton Oswalt and Catherine Taber are confirmed to return as the male and female voices of Jesse.
Meanwhile, Ashley Johnson will be back to voice Petra and Scott Porter will portray Luka once again.

Not all fans happy
Not all fans of Telltale's games are happy with the "Minecraft: Story Mode - Season 2" announcement.
The first season concluded with an unprecedented eighth episode last September and many fans are wondering about other games.
"Tales from the Borderlands" was well received by critics and is widely considered to be one of the best games produced by Telltale. Meanwhile, "Game of Thrones" is popular for obvious reasons and "The Wolf Among Us" has a devoted community behind it. There were many voices of displeasure on social media and gaming forums over the choice to do a sequel to "Minecraft: Story Mode."

The likely answer is Jesse and the gang's adventure sold extremely well across all platforms thanks to devoted fan power of Mojang's "Minecraft." The Microsoft-backed developer has plenty of clout to quickly push for another entry in a franchise that sells well.
For now, "Game of Thrones: Season Two" does remain in development with "TBA" as a release date. Meanwhile, "Guardians of the Galaxy" is in the middle of its five episode run.
