After LEGO announced that they were going to stop providing new games for the popular LEGO Dimensions console game, they said they were going to focus on basic video game properties once again. One of the most popular franchises that LEGO released in recent years was based on Marvel Comics superheroes, first with "Lego Marvel Superheroes" and then with "LEGO Avengers."

Now, LEGO has announced a new addition to the Marvel Comics franchise this year and that is "LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2." After the announcement, Warner Bros. and TT Games released some character designs and now they have released a full trailer that shows a number of characters in the new game, as well as the actual storyline.

The LEGO Marvel characters

One of the most important things that fans want to know is who will appear in the LEGO Marvel games. The first game in the series saw almost all the Marvel superheroes that fans had grown to love in the comic books, but when "LEGO Marvel Avengers" came out, it was missing some key characters -- specifically, the Fantastic Four and X-Men characters that are part of the FOX movie universe.

Of course, that was explained by the fact that the game itself was based on the movies in the Marvel "Avengers" universe, from both Avengers movies to Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor. Since it went through the storylines from the movies, there was no way they could include Fox superheroes.

However, the first movie saw all the superheroes, from The Avengers to The X-Men, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and more, all battling HGalactus as the big bad in "LEGO Marvel Superheroes." That is an important distinction because Galactus is a Fantastic Four character so there are no obvious problems with the characters being involved if they need be.

However, the trailer for "LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2" looks like it will keep up with the movies again. While the storyline is not from the movies, the first characters shown are Rocket Raccoon and Baby Groot from this year's "Guardians of the Galaxy 2." The trailer then shows many things movie fans won't recognize, like the multiverse Spider-Man characters.

The Marvel Multiverse

That is the new thing for fans of the Marvel movies and LEGO video game but not of the comics or animated television shows. The main storyline for "LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2" looks like it will focus on the Marvel Multiverse, which is where different versions of the characters reside. This was shown in the "Ultimate Spider-Man" cartoon and it looks like they will implement that with Spider-Man, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Gwen, and more.

The bad guy, much like Galactus in the first "LEGO Marvel Superheroes" video game, is a big powerful character, and everyone will need to team-up to beat said character. This character is Kang the Conquerer, a dictator from the future that returns to the past to make changes to fix what he feels wronged him in the future.

Familiar characters like Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, Captain America, Hawkeye, Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Spider-Man, and more team-up to fight him.

"LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2" comes out on Nov. 14. Check out the trailer below.
