Typically, the MLB trade deadline is on July 31 every year. Due to the 2020 season starting late due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the deadline for the 2020 season was pushed back a month to August 31. Here are some players from the American League that could be traded in the next couple days.

1

Martin Perez

Perez has a 4.07 E.R.A. with an opponent average of .195.

2

Matt Barnes

Despite his ugly 5.59 E.R.A., he does have an opponent average of .188 and is under control for the 2021 season.

3

Kevin Plawecki

Plawecki is slashing .357/.400/.429 in nine games and is under contract for next season. He could be a decent option as a backup catcher on a contending team.

4

Mitch Moreland

Moreland has done really well this season as in 16 games, he has a slash line of .348/.434/.804 with a ridiculous OPS of 1.238 along with six home runs. He has a club option attached to him for next season.

5

Jose Peraza

A contender could benefit from Peraza's versatility as he has experience playing both middle infield positions as well as a bit of experience playing the outfield. He's under control until 2022.

6

J.D. Martinez

This season, Martinez is slashing .244/.330/.419. He has a player option for next season meaning he could opt-out at the conclusion of the season.

7

Kevin Pillar

So far this season, Pillar is slashing .291/.349/.468.

8

Jackie Bradley Jr

Bradley Jr is slashing .242/.311/.303 but his bat isn't what he's known for as it's his defense in center field is what makes him potentially an attractive candidate for a contender.

9

Austin Romine

Romine is slashing .315/.327/.481. A pending free agent at the end of the season, he'd be a decent backup catching option for a contender.

Jonathan Schoop

Schoop is slashing .271/.304/.471 with five home runs.

Danny Duffy

Duffy has a 4.44 E.R.A. with 28 strikeouts over 14 hits given up for an opponent average of .184. He's under contract for the 2021 season. [image source: KA Sports phots-Wikimedia Commons]

12

Trevor Rosenthal

Rosenthal has found his groove posting an E.R.A. of 0.87 with 14 strikeouts over five hits given up for an opponent average of .147 while converting all six save chances. [image source: ESPN First Take-YouTube]

Trevor Rosenthal
13

Greg Holland

Holland has a 3.65 E.R.A. and a .244 opponent average in 12 games. If a contending team wants him, he could probably be had for international bonus pool money.

14

Whit Merrifield

Merrifield is slashing .302/.358/.510 with five home runs. As he's on a very team friendly contract until 2022 with a player option for 2023, the Royals would need multiple top prospects to move him.

15

Jorge Soler

Soler is slashing .253/.330/.462 with five home runs. He's under contract until next season but the Royals may view Soler as an important part of their future and may attempt to extend him sometime over the next while. If he were to be made available for a trade, the Royals would need a big haul.

16

Taijuan Walker

Walker has a 4.00 E.R.A. and a .210 opponent average. He would be a fine option for the backend of a contender's rotation.

17

Taylor Williams

Williams has a 3.66 E.R.A. with an opponent average of .211. He's under contract until 2023.

18

Taylor Guilbeau

The 27-year-old Guilbeau holds a 1.23 E.R.A. in seven games pitched this season.

19

Dee Gordon

Gordon hasn't done well this season but a contender could be interested in him due to his speed. He'll become a free agent after the 2021 season.

20

Kyle Seager

Seager has had a great 2020 so far slashing .303/.396/.528 with 21 RBIs. He's under contract for the 2021 season with a club option for 2022.
