Every season, there are contending teams that buy to make their team better for a playoff run and there are losing teams that sell for prospects and draft picks. In the Western Conference, many teams can still consider themselves in the playoff hunt as the fourteenth seeded Kings are only four games out of a playoff spot. Here are some Western Conference players that could get traded leading up to the February 6 deadline.
Alec Burks
Burks is having the best season of his career averaging 15.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He is also shooting a career-high 89.6 percent from the free throw line. [image source: NBA- YouTube]
Willie Cauley-Stein
Cauley-Stein is averaging 7.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists with a field goal percentage of 56.1 percent. [image source: ESPN- YouTube]
Marquese Chriss
Chriss is averaging 7.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists.
Glenn Robinson III
Robinson III is averaging 12.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists. He is shooting a career-high 85 percent from the free throw line. He's a free agent at the end of the season.
D'Angelo Russell
Russell's name has been talked about a lot, but he could very well stay put with the Warriors. He's averaging 23.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 6.2 assists while shooting 36.8 percent from three.
Dewayne Dedmon
Dedmon has requested to be traded from Sacramento and he was even fined $50 000 doing so. He's averaging 4.9 points, four rebounds and 0.3 assists while shooting 85.7 percent from the charity stripe.
Robert Covington
Roco is averaging 12.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists along with 1.7 steals. Covington is one of the most underrated and underappreciated players in the league.
Noah Vonleh
Vonleh is averaging 4.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists while putting up career-high percentages in field goal (54.7) and free throw (82.1).

Andre Iguodala
Iguodala has yet to appear in a game this season as he's waiting to be traded away or bought out by the Grizzlies. He would be an asset to a contending team due to his defense and size. He's been linked to the Mavericks and 76ers.
Hassan Whiteside
The Trailblazers are only one-and-a-half games out of a playoff spot. With the return of center Jusuf Nurkic, the Trailblazers may look to sell high on Whiteside. Whiteside is having a breakout year averaging 15.6 points, 14 rebounds and leading the league with an average of 2.9 blocks a game. He would probably cost a decent player on an expiring contract that can help the Trailblazers now as well as a first round pick.
Carmelo Anthony
Melo's name has not been mentioned in any trade talks but the Trailblazers could trade Melo to a true championship contender to show him respect so he can try and get his first ring. He's averaging 16.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists. The Lakers would be a good fit for Melo.
Jae Crowder
Crowder is having the best season of his career averaging 10.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists. As the Grizzlies are currently in a playoff spot, if they were to trade him, they would probably need a player on an expiring contract that can play multiple positions and a second round pick or two.
Danilo Gallinari
No one expected the Thunder to be in a playoff spot this time of the year, but they are. They'll have a tough decision to make regarding whether they should trade Gallinari. If they do, the team would need a decent player on an expiring contract and a first round pick. He's averaging 18.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists on the season while slashing 43.7/40.1/90.2.
Kyle Kuzma
The first place Lakers may look to trade Kuzma for depth. This season, Kuzma is averaging 12.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists. He's been linked to the Kings.
