Movie theaters are seeing an increase in attendance this month as popular films are being released. This week has been no exception. Fans have the opportunity to watch a 'Zombieland' sequel, a new take on Batman's biggest villain and Hollywood's latest take on police and African American relations. This list may cause some controversy, after deciding against including "Joker." I kept "Joker" off this list, because while it had a great story and acting, the film was not a true Joker film, it was more of an origin story for the popular villain. A sequel could make it better and we were unable to see Joker actually become Gotham's biggest villain. I would have preferred to see Joker take a deadlier tone.
'Black and Blue'
'Black and Blue' stars Naomie Harris who plays a rookie police officer who witnesses dirty cops and is forced to go on the run and survive the night in hopes of exposing the dirty cops. The film took a gritty and serious take on the issue of African-American relations with the police. Thanks to its incredible acting, writing and cinematography, "Black and Blue" is one of the best film in theaters right now.
'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil'
The second chapter of the Maleficent story was released in theaters and fans have flocked to the film. Angelina Jolie is back as Maleficent. Maleficent joins forces with a seasoned warrior and a group of outcasts to battle the queen and her powerful army.
