Moving on to the next team in this series, it is now time to take a look at the Dallas Mavericks' ten best draft choices since 1990. Out of all the teams done so far, this list seems to have the least talent particularly at the bottom.

Keep in mind that these are subjective lists. In order to make the list, the player must have actually been drafted by Dallas (Dirk Nowitzki would be the clear leader of this list except he was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks and acquired by the Mavericks later that night). Only the player's impact while with the Mavericks is considered. Where the player was drafted is also placed in consideration meaning this isn't exactly a top-ten players drafted by Dallas since 1990 list (if a 29th overall pick had about the same impact as a fifth overall pick, then the 29th overall pick will be higher).

All Mavericks draft picks were found at Basketball Reference.

1

Jason Kidd - 1st round, Second overall (1994)

Kidd played parts of eight seasons (over two stints) with the Mavericks, was named an All-Star twice, and won an NBA championship in 2011.

2

Josh Howard - 1st round, 29th overall (2003)

Playing 431 games with the Mavericks, Howard was named an All-Star in the 2006-07 season and posted averages of 15.3 points and six rebounds with Dallas.

3

Jim Jackson - 1st round, Fourth overall (1992)

A starter for Dallas right from the get-go, Jackson was a superb offensive player in his Mavericks tenure averaging a career-best 25.7 points in 1994-95.

4

Jamal Mashburn - 1st round, Fourth overall (1993)

In his last two full seasons with Dallas (1994-95 and 1995-96), Mashburn combined to average 24 points a contest along with 4.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists.

5

Sean Rooks - 2nd round, 30th overall (1992)

Starting 68 games in his rookie year despite being a second round pick, Rooks went on to average 13.5 points and 7.4 rebounds in his first season.

6

Greg Buckner - 2nd round, 53rd overall (1998)

While he wasn't much of a scorer (5.2 points an outing in 205 games with Dallas), Buckner was known as an excellent defender.

7

Jalen Brunson - 2nd round, 33rd overall (2018)

Starting 38 games this season as a rookie, Brunson put together solid averages of 13 points, three rebounds, and 4.3 assists when thrust into the starting lineup. He recently received his college degree from Villanova according to the Mavericks team website.

8

Mike Iuzzolino - 2nd round, 35th overall (1991)

While his NBA career spanned only two seasons, Iuzzolino carved a large role playing 25 minutes a contest with Dallas averaging nine points and 4.3 assists.

9

Dennis Smith Jr. - 1st round, Ninth overall (2017)

While he played just 1.5 seasons for the Mavericks before being traded in a deal that landed Dallas former All-Star Kristaps Porzingis, Smith Jr. was a Second Team All-Rookie member when he averaged 15.2 points and 5.2 assists.

10

Lucious Harris - 2nd round, 28th overall (1993)

Spending his first three seasons with the Mavericks, Harris was a nice bench scorer and went on to score 1,650 points in 217 games with Dallas.
