He's a transfer from Western Kentucky

The Nebraska basketball team has landed the commitments of several transfers since Fred Hoiberg arrived in Lincoln and Banton is just the latest. He played as a freshman last year, averaging 3.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He'll sit out the 2019-20 season and then have three years to play three.

He's a big man with ball handling skills

If you read the below tweet, you might notice something rather unusual there. He's listed as a 6-foot-8 point guard. One has to wonder whether he stays at point guard, but if he doesn't the Huskers have a man who could play the front court with special ball handling skills.

He's shined against the Big Ten

One of Western Kentucky's big wins last year was an upset against Wisconsin. In that game, he played 38 minutes (a season high) while scoring eight points, hauling down 13 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists. Remember that "big man with ball handling skills" comment? It's not a guess. He's big, especially for his position, and he can dish the rock.

He was highly touted out of high school

Don't let the thought that he's coming from Western Kentucky make you think this is a kid who was a diamond in the rough. He was a 4-star prospect, according to 247Sports, and the 15th best point guard in the 2018 class. He was also inside that class' Top 100 players.

He pulled the trigger quick

Banton has taken one official visit since he announced he was transferring from WKU. That one visit was last weekend to Lincoln. On Wednesday afternoon, he announced he was a Husker.
