He never lived up to the hype
While Ogbah didn't have a terrible career in Cleveland, he didn't really look like the draft pick the Cleveland Browns were hoping he would be. In three seasons with the Browns, he recorded 12.5 sacks. That's the kind of number you hope to see in one season when you're talking about one of the top edge rushers in the draft class.

He gives the Chiefs a new player, and some cap space
Apparently, the way his contract was structured compared to Eric Murray, who was the player the Chiefs sent to Cleveland, the team gets to save a little cash.
Ogbah will count $1.3m against the cap in 2019. The Chiefs also have the ability to extend him since he’s played three NFL seasons.

Murray will count for $2 million against the cap for Cleveland.
The Chiefs actually gain a little over $660k in cap space.
He fits the new defense
This might be the single biggest piece of news about the trade. If there was one thing the Chiefs lacked last year, it was defensive push on a consistent basis. They are hoping a revamped defense will get them to the Super Bowl. Ogbah matches what KC wants to do in 2019 on 'D.'

The asking price was right
In return for Ogbah, the Chiefs sent back defensive back Eric Murray. Murray started nine games for the Chiefs last season and recorded 55 tackles.

He knew he was going to be traded
It's not clear if there was bad blood among the Browns or just the fact that he was expendable, but Ogbah did not report to the Browns' offseason camp because he knew he wouldn't be there very long.
