With the NBA playoffs just beginning, 16 teams have seen their season extended. On the other end of the spectrum, 14 teams saw their season end with the 82nd game of the regular season.
Who is the most important free agent on each of these teams? (Note: Those with player or team options are not included. Ages shown are how old they will be on November 1, 2019. The list of free agents were taken from Spotrac.)
Atlanta Hawks - Dewayne Dedmon (C, Age: 30)
In two years with Atlanta, Dedmon has started 98 of his 126 appearances. He began to develop a three-point shot and averaged 10.4 points and 7.7 rebounds.
Charlotte Hornets - Kemba Walker (PG, Age: 29)
An All-Star each of the last three seasons, Walker will likely receive a max (or near-max) deal. He averaged a career-high 25.6 points this season and nearly six dimes per contest. According to the Asheboro Courier Tribune, general manager Mitch Kupchak said that Charlotte will do everything they can to keep Walker.
Chicago Bulls - Ryan Arcidiacono, restricted (PG, Age: 25)
Arcidiacono didn't see much action as an undrafted free agent in 2017-18. Last season, he played 81 games (started 32) and scored 6.7 points per game while shooting 37.3 percent on threes.
Cleveland Cavaliers - David Nwaba, restricted (SG/SF, Age: 26)
Nwaba may be joining his fourth team in four years if Cleveland does not to decide to match an offer given to him. He played 19.3 minutes an outing last year averaging 6.5 points and 3.2 rebounds.
Dallas Mavericks - Kristaps Porzingis, restricted (PF, Age: 24)
He missed all of this season, but it is extremely unlikely that the Mavericks would trade for Porzingis without the intention of keeping him. He was an All-Star for the first time in 2017-18 with the Knicks.
Los Angeles Lakers - Javale McGee (C, Age: 31)
In just 22.3 minutes per game this season, McGee was very productive with averages of 12 points, 7.5 rebounds, and two blocks.
Memphis Grizzlies - Delon Wright, restricted (PG/SG, Age: 27)
Traded in February to the Grizzlies, Wright played 26 games for Memphis. With them, he averaged 12.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.6 steals.
Miami Heat - Udonis Haslem (PF/C, Age: 39)
Haslem wins by default because the only other free agent on the team currently is Dwyane Wade who has announced he will retire. Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside have hefty player options that will likely have them staying on the team. Meanwhile, Haslem has only appeared in 40 games over the last three seasons.
Minnesota Timberwolves - Derrick Rose (PG, Age: 31)
The NBA saw much more of vintage D-Rose this season as he even poured in a 50-point game. In 51 games this season, Rose averaged 18 points and 4.3 assists.
New Orleans Pelicans - Elfrid Payton (PG, Age: 25)
In the middle of March, Payton actually had five straight games in which he recorded a triple-double. While he played just 42 games this season, he did average career-bests in both rebounding (5.2) and assists (7.6).
New York Knicks - Emmanuel Mudiay, restricted (PG, Age: 23)
The Knicks weren't very successful, but Mudiay had his best season as a pro. He had career-highs in field goal (44.6) and three-point (32.9) percentage while averaging 14.8 points per outing.
Phoenix Suns - Kelly Oubre Jr., Restricted (SF, Age: 23)
Acquired by Phoenix last December, Oubre became one of the Suns' top scorers. In 40 games with the team, he averaged 16.9 points while also grabbing 4.9 boards a game.
Sacramento Kings - Willie Cauley-Stein, restricted (C, Age: 26)
Cayley-Stein has shot over 50 percent from the field in all four of his NBA seasons. He started 81 games this season averaging 11.9 points and 8.4 rebounds.
Washington Wizards - Tomas Satoransky, restricted (PG/SG, Age: 28)
The Wizards may feel more inclined to keep Satoransky since John Wall could be sidelined all of next season. After Wall went down, Satoransky started all 45 games he played and averaged 11 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 6.6 assists.
