The Nebraska baseball team lost a heartbreaker on Friday afternoon to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The game, a 5-2 loss in the 10th inning not only broke a winning streak, but snapped some serious momentum for the Huskers as they look to prove their the best team in the Big Ten. Several things stood out in the loss.
Wasted home run
The Huskers are not a power hitting team. They got their sixth homer of the entire season on Friday. It was also Mojo Hagge's first of the season. It was all for naught in the end.

Waldron growing into his role nicely
He wasn't even in the rotation to start the year. Since taking over the reins of the Friday starter, Waldron has been dominant. On Friday, he went eight innings, allowed seven hits and two runs while striking out eight. He didn't get the win, thanks to a lack of offense, but he showed he truly is the ace of the staff. That's something Erstad has lacked for most of his time here.

Chick continues filling in nicely
Cam Chick has managed to fill in for an injured Spencer Schwellenbach admirably. He went 2-for-4 on Friday. That included a lined shot for a double in the ninth inning. Just a few more feet of lift and it would have been the game-winning home run.
THAT'S RIGHT. 👈😏

Joe Acker keeps raking
While he doesn't have any more power than the rest of his team, there's very little doubt that Joe Acker has been a boon. After tieing the game yesterday and getting two hits, his season average is up to .360, which leads the team by quite a bit.

Bullpen is still a problem
The bullpen has been a problem all season long. Friday was no different. After Matt Waldron left after eight innings, Robbie Palkert pitched the final inning and a third. He did ok in the ninth. Not so much in the 10th. He allowed a walk-off three run home run that sunk the Nebraska baseball team in the series opener.
Final from Minneapolis.
