After looking at the best draft choices for the three teams with the top three picks in April’s draft (Cardinals, 49ers, Jets), it’s time to now look at the Raiders who will be selecting fourth. Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports has them selecting edge rusher Josh Allen out of Kentucky with that pick in his latest mock draft.
The talent level that has come via the draft hasn’t been as deep as the first three teams that were looked at. This will likely be the only team that has both a kicker and a punter make the list. While the top guy on the list is a future Hall of Fame talent, he spent just four years with the Raiders before being traded.
Note: Only time with the Raiders was considered for the list. Also, where they were drafted made a difference - meaning this isn’t quite a top-ten best players drafted by Oakland since the 1990 list. Some late-round selections that did not quite make the list, but contained solid careers for the Raiders, include Michael Bush (fourth-round, 2007), Tyvon Branch (fourth-round, 2008), Brandon Myers (sixth-round, 2009), Denarius Moore (fifth-round, 2011), T.J. Carrie (seventh-round, 2014), and Maurice Hurst (fifth-round, 2018).
Khalil Mack, LB - 1st-round, 5th overall (2014); time with Raiders: 2014-2017
The 2016 Defensive Player of the Year, Mack was a dominant pass rusher recording 36.5 sacks in his last three years with the team. He was twice named a First Team All-Pro with Oakland.
Nnamdi Asomugha, CB - 1st-round, 31st overall (2003); time with Raiders: 2003-2010
Asomugha ended his tenure with the Raiders with three straight Pro Bowl appearances with two of those seasons seeing also be named a First Team All-Pro. He recorded 11 interceptions with the Raiders, eight of which came in the 2006 season.
