The Academy Awards are less than a month away, and not everyone will be a winner. There have been a number of Oscar-worthy films released to the public. The number of popular and critically lauded Movies is too much for the movie lover to consume. While we consider many movies classics, that doesn't mean the Academy Awards honored it at the time. Below are five films that I consider great but didn't win.

1

'Die Hard' - 1988

Action flicks don't exactly draw much attention when it comes to award season. But "Die Hard" has become one of the greatest action films of the 80s. One of the most influential genre films did not even receive a single award. While Bruce Willis might not have stood out for consideration, Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber definitively deserved an award for Best Supporting Actor.

2

'Lady Bird' - 2017

2018 was a year of incredible movies, including "Get Out" and "Lady Bird." "Lady Bird" earned five nominations but lost to several strong films, including "The Shape of Water" and "Three Billboards." What fans will always remember is how Laurie Metcalf lost Best Supporting Actress to "I Tonya," star Allison Janney. Metcalf delivered a much stronger performance, in my opinion.
