Sean McVay has guided the Rams to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2001. The last and only time the Rams held the Lombardi Trophy was at Super Bowl XXXIV, thanks to the Greatest Show on Turf led by head coach Dick Vermeil and QB Kurt Warner.
Much has changed for this historic franchise. It was rebuilt in 2017 with the hiring of head coach Sean McVay, who led the team to back-to-back NFC West titles and finally their first appearance on Super Bowl Sunday since 2001.
Jared Goff on the run
The Rams were down 13-0 less than a quarter into their NFC title game against New Orleans, it appeared the Rams were out of the game. However, in the second quarter Sean McVay called for a fake punt and it succeeded calming the Rams and eventually leading them to an overtime win, 26-23. The key to their victory was Jared Goff's mobility and ability to hit his receivers. That mobility may help Goff avoid the strong defense of the Pats.
Pressuring Tom Brady
Tom Brady is going up against a strong Los Angeles Rams defense that includes Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh and Michael Brockers. Rams DC Wade Phillips definitely has a plan for the New England offense. They key will be pressuring Tom Brady. Wade Phillips' Broncos in 2015 kept the Patriots from winning the Super Bowl. Donald recorded half of LA's 41 sacks.
