The 2018 NFL regular season wrapped things up on Sunday with Week 17 results. That included several teams playing for playoff spots, and getting into the postseason. A number of other teams were still playing for pride or losing to get a better draft pick. However, after tough seasons, also come tough decisions and these six NFL coaches were let go by their organizations.
Todd Bowles - New York Jets
The Jets were hoping for Sam Darnold to lead a miraculous turnaround this season, but they ended up 4-12 after a season-ending loss. Bowles got the axe after that loss as he's spent four seasons as head coach and the team never reached the playoffs once.

Adam Gase - Miami Dolphins
Gase was with the Dolphins for free seasons, and ended up 23-25 during that time. One of those seasons saw the team go 10-6 and get into the playoffs. However, this was not a playoff season. Gase's squad was 7-9 in the AFC for 2018.

Dirk Koetter - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers are a team that probably had playoff expectations this season behind their quarterbacks. However, they finished at 5-11 after a loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Koetter was 19-29 during his time as coach of the team, and the team has missed the playoffs 11 straight seasons.

Marvin Lewis - Cincinnati Bengals
Lewis had a lengthy stay of 16 years as the head coach of Cincinnati. During that time, the Bengals were 131-122-3 with multiple playoff appearances. The last three seasons were not postseason-worthy, though. The team also failed to win a single playoff game in seven appearances.

Mike McCarthy - Green Bay Packers
Another longtime coach who got the axe was the Packers' McCarthy. He was fired earlier in the month on Dec. 2 after the team suffered a home loss to the disappointing Cardinals. McCarthy had the best overall record of any coach on this list at 125-77-2 in his 13 seasons with the Packers. However, he may already have a new NFL job lined up with another team.

Steve Wilks - Arizona Cardinals
Not too many people expected much from the Cardinals and they lived up to that expectation. A 3-13 record this season has them in the hunt for a top pick in the NFL Draft. Wilks was at the helm for just this season, so it might be hard to blame him for all of their woes. At least he got out before it got worse.
