On Saturday, it was announced that Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray won the 2018 Heisman Trophy. According to Newsweek, he defeated second-place winner Tua Tagovailoa, quarterback of Alabama, by 296 points in the voting.
Tagovailoa was the prohibitive favorite for much of the season, but struggles in the SEC Championship Game along with leaving the game with injury helped to allow Murray to jump over him. While the 296 points separating the two in the voting seems relatively close, it is actually just the 14th-closest Heisman voting in the last 30 years.

2009 - Mark Ingram 29 points over Toby Gerhart
Alabama were undefeated National Champions in the 2009 season, a year that running back Mark Ingram also took home the Heisman. He rushed for 1,658 yards on 6.1 yards per carry and scored 20 total touchdowns (17 rushing, 3 receiving). Toby Gerhart ran for 28 touchdowns for 8-5 Stanford in the 2009 season. He had 1,871 rushing yards while averaging 5.5 yards per attempt.
2001 - Eric Crouch 62 points over Rex Grossman
Quarterback Eric Crouch of Nebraska actually threw more interceptions (10) than touchdowns (7) in his Heisman-winning year. Where he excelled was when he kept the football as he rushed for 1,115 yards and eight touchdowns. Florida finished the 2001 season ranked third in the AP Poll, a year in which Rex Grossman completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 3.896 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
1989 - Andre Ware 70 points over Anthony Thompson
Houston's pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, run offense helped Andre Ware put up video game-like numbers en route to winning the Heisman. For the year, he completed 63.1 percent of his passes for 4,699 yards, 46 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. Indiana finished 5-6 in 1989, which likely helped cause running back Anthony Thompson to just miss out on winning the Heisman. In 11 games for the year, he rushed for 1,793 yards on five yards per carry and 24 touchdowns. He also added 35 receptions.
2000 - Chris Weinke 76 points over Josh Heupel
Chris Weinke (28 years old at the time) had an excellent senior season. The Florida State quarterback completed 61.7 percent of his passes for 4,167 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. While the last two Heismans were won by Oklahoma quarterbacks, Josh Heupel just missed out in 2000. Leading the Sooners to an undefeated National Championship season, he completed 64.6 percent of his passes for 3,606 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. He also ran for seven scores.
2008 - Sam Bradford 122 points over Colt McCoy
Oklahoma has provided their fans with elite quarterback play for quite some time, and Sam Bradford was no different. Taking home the Heisman in the 2008 season, he completed 67.9 percent of his passes for 4,720 yards, 50 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Playing for Oklahoma's Big 12 rival (Texas), Colt McCoy finished just short of winning the prestigious trophy. For the 2008 season, he completed 76.7 percent of his passes for 3,859 yards, 34 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
