A Sore Throat is the first sign of chest infections and a cold. The disease is caused by viruses (mononucleosis), which produce blisters in the throat and mouth. Two most common bacteria that cause a sore throat are Arcanobacterium hemolytic and Streptococcus. It is impossible to say how long the disease lasts as the duration depends upon the viruses or bacteria involved.

The viral infections usually last for a few days, but the bacterial infections such as strep throat begin to improve once the treatment is over. A sore throat may also be caused by acid reflux, asthma, air pollution, smoking, and excessive use of alcohol.

Various antibiotics are available to cure a sore throat, but the following home remedies have no alternative.
