Back in June, prepaid mobile carrier Republic Wireless announced that it would start selling Lenovo’s budget-friendly smartphone, the Moto E4. Today, on August 16, 2017, the company revealed that they would also be carrying its improved version, the Moto E4 Plus. The latest handset from the E series is another budget smartphone with impressive design and performance features.

All-in-one package?

Republic Wireless is known for its affordable wireless calling and texting plans. In carrying the E4 Plus, the service provider has agreed to support wireless calling and texting.

With access to a WiFi network, the user can make unlimited calls and send unlimited texts. Since wireless connectivity often offers more speed and stability compared to cellular networks, this feature is a big plus. Also, the prepaid carrier also provides users 4G LTE connectivity in the absence of a wireless network.

For the Moto E4 Plus, it can be purchased for a full price of $199, or as low as $12 per month for 18 months to be paid to AFFIRM. This latter option would bring the total cost to $216. Also, there is also the Clear Choice Plans option for customers where rates start at $15 per month. The most expensive package is the monthly $90. All plans are inclusive of unlimited calling and texting both on wireless and cellular networks.

Compared to other major mobile carriers, Republic Wireless offers a more affordable package that is 40% to 60% less expensive.

It is important to note that Republic Wireless’ offer for the Moto E4 Plus is significantly higher than its retail price, which is $180. Among the retailers who offer it at a lower price include Amazon, Best Buy, and Newegg.

Further, the Plus version is twice as much expensive as the Moto E4, which was previously sold for as low as $99. The price went up to $129 after the promotional offer. It is not known whether the Plus version will also be offered at an introductory price, but it should drop after some time.

Design and performance features

The Moto E4 Plus is Motorola’s version of an entry-level smartphone.

It will be powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 427 with a system-on-chip (SoC) at 1.4GHz. It will be 4G LTE-enabled and will run on Android 7.0 Nougat. The memory packs 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. The rear camera boasts a 13-megapixel shooter with autofocus, HDR, and an LED flash. The front-facing camera, on the other hand, has 5-megapixels with LED flash.

Republic Wireless offers the gadget in two colors, the Fine Gold, and Iron Gray. The 5.5-inch LCD has 1280 x 720 screen resolution with a pixel density of 267 pixels per inch. All these are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. As for the battery, the E4 Plus comes with a large 5,000mAh non-removable battery. Further, it includes Motorola’s Rapid Charging feature as well as a 10W wall charger.
