“General Hospital” news is sad this week as Barbara Tarbuck passed away on Tuesday, December 27th from unspecified causes. The talented actress played Jax’s mom Lady Jane since 1996 but its been six years since “GH” watchers have seen her in the role.
'GH' warning fans to prepare?
When Jax was in town for Thanksgiving, he had to rush home after telling Carly, Josslyn, and Michael that Lady Jane was seriously ill. Did “GH” bosses know Barbara was critically ill and were prepping fans for bad news? “GH” spoilers say they may have known.
With Ingo Rademacher coming back in early 2017 and Josslyn with Jax in Australia, we’ll probably get a mention of her death and funeral.
“GH” has been going cheap lately with big life events like these. Remember when Nikolas’ funeral took place off-screen?
Barbara Tarbuck’s incredible career
Barbara was beloved by “GH” watchers as Lady Jane but she also had lots of other impressive roles in her long career. She began as a radio actor at the age of nine, moved to theater and began on TV in 1978. She had spots in the 70's on "Dallas," "The Incredible Hulk," and "Charlie’s Angels."
In the 80's, she did "Quincy," "Little House on the Prairie," "MASH," and "Cagney & Lacey." In the late 80's and 90's, she did primetime soaps including "Falcon Crest," "Santa Barbara," and "Knots Landing." Her work continued all the way through the 2000's with appearances on "Dexter," and modern, currently airing shows like "American Horror Story."
A never-ending work ethic
Up until her death, Tarbuck was still working.
She was a theater director and coach, and was directing a play in Santa Monica at the time of her death titled “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” at the EdgeMar Center for the Arts. Tarbuck wrote about herself on her official website, “Mine is a life of continual change and upheaval. It is freedom and renewal and an underlying belief in the strength and dignity of human expression.”
Both Lady Jane Jacks and Barbara Tarbuck will be missed.
“General Hospital” airs weekdays on ABC, and today’s show features more on the mob mystery.
