"Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator," a new title in the "Five Nights At Freddy's" horror video game series, was quietly released on December 4 — much to the surprise of the fanbase.

Mechanical Mysteries

"Five Nights At Freddy's" is a horror video game series. The original title has the player assuming the role of a restaurant security guard, in charge of protecting the building during the night and keeping the animatronics in check. The animatronics and game's location are a reference to those of "Chuck E. Cheese's" fame, being an all-animal cast of characters.

Unlike those that one would see at a real restaurant, these animatronics are broken down, want to attack the player, and are possibly involved in a murder mystery.

Unlike previous games in the "Five Nights At Freddy's"(FNAF) series Pizzeria Simulator eases up on the usual gameplay of the player sitting in an office while trying to avoid deadly animatronics. Instead, the player owns their own branch of "Freddy Fazbear's Pizza" and is in charge of designing the interior, making sure to purchase attractions, animatronics, and most importantly, trying to not get the company sued.

The gang's all here

The game starts off as a retro-styled mini-game in which Freddy Fazbear, controlled by the player, is tasked to feed pizzas to hungry children.

Longtime fans of the series may recognize this style, which first saw use in the game's third entry. After a brief playtime, the screen glitches and players are introduced to the real game--complete with an introductory video and tutorial.

In addition to the usual team of Freddy and his animal friends, Circus Baby returns from "Five Nights At Freddy's: Sister Location," and the menacing, mysterious Springtrap is back from "Five Nights At Freddy's 3." New animatronics appear for the first time in the series, such as Number 1 Crate and 'Lefty' for the player to place on stage for customers' amusement.

A twist on the series's tradition

While the majority of the game is about designing your own Freddy's restaurant and keeping things safe for guests, the original gameplay hasn't gone ignored. Rather than avoid deadly robots for the entire game, this only comes into play when the player's restaurant is opened to the public.

While the customers enjoy their food, the player is tasked with ordering supplies.

Certain animatronics that are a safety risk (which is alerted to the player before they obtain them,) will try to get into the office. If this happens, the player is greeted by a loud jumpscare in traditional "Five Nights At Freddy's" fashion.

"Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator" is now available for free on Steam.
