HMD Global officially unveiled its Android flagship handset, Nokia 8, last month, which is now up for grabs in select regions. The smartphone hasn’t been released in the United States, but it recently surfaced at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) with some upgraded specifications.

According to Nokia Power User, the FCC certification showed two variants of the Nokia 8 with model numbers TA-1012 and TA-1004. The models are bound for the United States market and the smartphones seem to roll out with more memory and built-in storage.

The FCC certification made it known that the Nokia 8 will be available with 6GB of RAM and 126GB of internal storage.

This could fall in line with previous rumors claiming that the tech company will specifically customize the variant for the United States market. On the other hand, the European version of the mobile device features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, with microSD card support of up to 256GB.

Adding up to Nokia 8’s boosted RAM, the two U.S. versions of the mobile device will feature a WCDMA Band IV enabled as well as an ANT+ feature. Phone Arena reported that the ANT+ feature will allow users to monitor their fitness and health.

HMD Global seems to be launching its flagship smartphone in waves rather than making the mobile device available across the globe simultaneously. The arrival of the Nokia 8 Android smartphone in India marks the tech company’s second wave of worldwide release.

There’s a possibility that the handset will be available in the U.S. next month.

Camera front

However, one of the smartphone’s biggest highlights is its rear dual camera setup, consisting of two 13MP sensors with monochrome lenses and RGB. The Finnish tech firm heavily touted the bothies feature of the handset, which would allow the rear and front sensors to capture videos and images simultaneously.

The cameras of the device have been developed in collaboration with Carl Zeiss.

Specs of the device

The new mobile device features a unibody design. The company launched the Nokia 8 in different color options - Tempered Blue, Steel, Polished Blue and Polished Copper. The mobile device features an IP54 certification for dust and water resistance.

The handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 system on chip. The smartphone will be available in hybrid dual SIM option. The device features a 5.3-inch 2K LCD screen, protected by a Gorilla Glass 5. The mobile device is equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack, 3090mAh battery, and a USB 3.1 Type-C.
