There's no denying that the 5.8-inch display of iPhone X is one of the most beautiful handset displays ever. However, Apple is now gearing up to roll out new OLED mobile devices next year, but one of the tech company’s 2018 handsets could feature a 6.46-inch LCD display.

According to The Investor (via NeoWin), the Cupertino based tech company originally desired to launch three OLED iPhones next year, a 5.28-inch, 5.85-inch and a 6.45-inch. However, the tech firm realized that its smallest variants have a low marketability. With that, Apple has decided to cancel the smallest variant (5.28-inch OLED iPhone) of its planned OLED mobile devices for 2018.

The tech company has now ordered 6.46-inch LCD screens from Samsung Display.

This could indicate that the tech company could not be adopting the OLED display technology for all of its upcoming mobile devices. However, while the tech company might roll out a 6.46-inch LCD iPhone in 2018, the tech firm would continue purchasing the OLED panel for its 5.85-inch variant from Samsung Display.

The new strategy of Apple to launch a larger display iPhone could end up beneficial for the tech firm. The shift of the tech company towards developing much larger screens is a response to the growing popularity of large mobile devices, such as Samsung’s Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Galaxy Note 8.

According to The Korea Herald (via Motley Fool), the 6.2-inch display S8 Plus has sold better in the marketplace compared to the 5.8-inch display S8.

The 6.3-inch Note 8 is anticipated to sell numerous units because of its large display.

If Apple manages to roll out the larger 6.46-inch display with a bezel-less design, Apple enthusiasts would be delighted about the device. Nonetheless, the tech company will have to launch the 6.46-inch display iPhone with a 2:1 aspect ratio, as opposed to the 10th year anniversary iPhone’s 19:9 aspect ratio.

Meanwhile, Apple’s 10th-year-anniversary handset is expected to perform well considering that it is the first mobile device of the company to arrive with an OLED technology. The iPhone X is a redesigned variant that features a dual camera setup, bezel-less display, and an A11 Bionic chipset. The smartphone also features a front-facing camera setup that implements the animated emojis, facial recognition system as well as other camera tricks. The handset is equipped with a True Tone display, Wide color display, 3D Touch, improved Siri AI personal assistant and iOS 11 operating system.
