Samsung has reportedly scheduled an Unpacked event for Wednesday, August 23, 2017, in New York where the company is expected to unveil the highly anticipated Galaxy Note 8 along with a new Gear VR headset and an updated fitness smartband, dubbed the Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro.
It was after the Gear Fit2 Pro’s name was spotted listed on Samsung’s official website’s support page with model number SM-R365 that rumors about the device started surfacing online. The fitness device was also spotted passing through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
In fact, well-known tech news website, VentureBeat, published some pictures of the much-rumored fitness smartband, courtesy of popular leakster, Evan Blass.

Possible specs, design details
Talking about the specs, the Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro is expected to retain the same curved display as its predecessor, Gear Fit2. However, the upcoming gadget is likely to get some major design upgrades. It will come powered by Samsung’s own Tizen operating software.
The upcoming smart fitness wear is rumored to get advanced swim tracking features.
If recent reports are to be believed, the fitness wrist wear will get up to 5ATM (50 meters) water resistance that will allow the device to track swimming workouts. The current Fit2 model is IP-68 certified and is not completely submersible.
Samsung’s next generation fitness tracker will be compatible with the Speedo On app for swim tracking.
The upcoming Gear-branded smart wearable device will arrive with a music playback option and allow users to play offline tracks from Spotify. The device will also feature GPS functionality same like its predecessor. The smartband will be compatible with both Android and iOS platforms. Users will reportedly get free access to UnderArmour’s premium digital services for almost a year.
The Pro model will come with a watch-style clasp instead of a snap clasp as found in the current model that will make the device more suitable for extensive workouts.
Possible release date, price
Although Samsung has not yet announced anything about Gear Fit 2 Pro’s specs, release date or price details, it is expected that the smart wrist watch will get unveiled soon. Considering the fact that the wearable device is already appearing on the South Korean company’s official website, it is expected that the smartband will get an official launch soon, most probably next week alongside Galaxy Note 8. There’s no word on the device’s price details just yet.
