If you're a fan of college football, you know about Auburn University. They're not the best team, but Auburn is certainly in one of the best conferences in college football (the SEC). Auburn has won a few championships and titles throughout its time, yet to the Students and fans, it's time for another win.

It's not hard to remember a time when Auburn won. In fact, it was only in 2010 when Auburn last won a football championship. And just this past year, Auburn beat two of their biggest rivals, Georgia and Alabama. However, this is too long ago for many fans.

The Peach Bowl was not a success against undefeated UCF. So, Auburn fans have now turned to Basketball to clinch a win.

Why basketball?

Auburn has many other successful sports: soccer, softball, and baseball. However, Auburn fans are turning to men's basketball with their fingers crossed for a win. So far, Auburn has yet to disappoint. Fans were surprised and ecstatic to see the team break a few records so early on in the season. Auburn had a 14-game winning record when they went in to play against the rivals: University of Alabama. Unfortunately, this game resulted in a loss, but it didn't deter the Tigers.

A few days later, Auburn played against Georgia, their other large rivalry. And Auburn won.

There were a few games where the win looked like it may not come, but Auburn has not given up. That was evident in the Georgia game when the Tigers were down by 14 at the half. Auburn then came back to win by 14. This win only proved that Auburn belonged in the rankings as the highest-ranked SEC team. With Kentucky losing to Florida, it appears that Auburn is going to stay in the lead of the SEC for a while.

Auburn Basketball has had successful seasons before. They've made it to the NCAA tournament eight times in the past. Students and fans are looking forward to the ninth appearance.

Team stats

It looks like Auburn has a pretty young team out there playing, but is that why the team is doing so well? The team has only one senior and most of the other players are sophomores.

In fact, most of the starting lineup are sophomores. A few juniors are peppered in there, but it's mostly sophomores.

One of the crowd favorites is Mustapha Heron. He's a sophomore guard from Connecticut. Why is he so well liked? With the season only about halfway over, Heron has scored almost 300 points, averaging about 15 points a game. Another fan-favorite is Bryce Brown, a junior at Auburn. So far this season, he has scored 312 points. This is the most points he's scored in any season at Auburn, and the season isn't even over yet. Fans are excited to see what these two players, as well as the rest of the team, are going to do with the rest of the season.

Not only that, but fans are ready for a win. They're looking toward the tournament and are ready to become a basketball school.
