Washington Redskins rumors addressed starting quarterback Kirk Cousins missing practice, but head coach Jay Gruden isn’t worried. A report by the Washington Post confirmed that despite being at the hospital for the birth of his son, Cousins actually used FaceTime to take part in a team meeting on Friday (Sept. 29). It was an excused absence, but it forced the team to have backup quarterback Colt McCoy take the first-team snaps at practice.
Gruden and McCoy seemed quite confident that Cousins would be fine after missing this practice. Neither feels that it will affect his preparation for the Oct.
2 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. If he is needed, though, McCoy is now better prepared to step in and play with the first-team on offense.
Redskins are tied for first place
Despite a lot of experts picking the Washington Redskins to lose a Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Rams, there were a few who correctly predicted the victory. The Redskins followed that up with an easy Week 3 victory over the Oakland Raiders, again surprising many analysts who had picked against the team. The end result is that the Redskins are tied with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles for first place in the NFC East standings.
The Redskins now get to play a Monday night football game against the Chiefs.
Game time is 8:30 PM ET on Oct. 2, with ESPN providing television coverage. It’s an important game, as the Redskins will get a bye next week to rest up for the hard push toward the 2018 NFL Playoffs. That will include two games against the Cowboys that could decide how the NFC East turns out this year. One small favor from the schedule makers is that they don’t have to play an Atlanta Falcons team that might be even better than last year.
Cousins is earning his big payday
It’s no secret that Kirk Cousins is a free agent at the end of the 2017 NFL season and he is putting up numbers that will earn him that long-term contract. Through three games this year, he has completed 68 percent of his passes for 784 yards and five touchdowns. The Week 1 game against the Philadelphia Eagles was a bit rough, but he bounced back with a good game against the Los Angeles Rams and then a career-best outing against the Oakland Raiders.
Washington Redskins rumors about the Monday night game against the Kansas City Chiefs aren’t flattering. ESPN states that the Chiefs are a difficult matchup for the Redskins and the latest spread favors the host (Kansas City) by seven points. The Chiefs are 3-0 and have scored 93 points so far this season, predicting it will indeed be a tough game. Can Cousins lead the Redskins to victory on the national stage of Monday night football?
