Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal have not made any formal bid for Monaco in-demand striker Kylian Mbappé this transfer window, and he expects the Monaco youngster to stay put for another season. Meanwhile, Gunners boss has made it clear Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will “100 percent” stay at the Emirates this summer despite rumors linking the England midfielder with a move away from Arsenal. In Italy, AS Roma have agreed a deal to sign defender Federico Fazio from Tottenham Hotspur. Here's a complete report of the latest transfer updates Making The Rounds:
Wenger clears Mbappé link to Arsenal
Kylian Mbappé enjoyed a stunning “breakthrough” last season, scoring twenty-six goals in all competitions to help Monaco clinch the French Ligue 1 title and also reach the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League.
According to Goal, the 18-year-old striker has been extensively linked with some of the biggest club sides around Europe, and it was recently speculated that the Gunners had tabled a “stunning” $129m offer for Kylian Mbappé. But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, when asked about the reported offer for the France international, he said: “That is definitely not true. You know people have big imaginations. What we the club know is that Mbappé is over £100m ($129m) and after that it is free to now imagine what you actually want.
“So far we've not made any formal offer. I think he'll still stay at Monaco, it appears like that. One more year there. Maybe he has too many options right now but In the end, he probably might not even move." (Quotes Credit: Arsenal.com)
Chamberlain certainly not going anywhere, says Wenger
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly willing to leave Arsenal this summer to kick start his soccer career elsewhere, with a number of club sides including Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are said to be interested in the winger, according to SkySports.
The 23-year-old is frustrated by his contract situation with Gunners, with no “progress” made in discussions concerning a new contract extension, with his current deal set to expire next year summer. But despite rumors claiming the England winger could leave the Emirates this summer window, the Red north London club boss Arsene Wenger has “emphatically” denied such rumors.
Asked whether the England international will stay at Arsenal, the French manager said: “Of course, 100 percent I expect Chamberlain to stay. No doubt, there're much speculations, but no matter what happens Chamberlain will certainly stay here.” (Story Credit: SkySports)
AS Roma signs Federico Fazio on a permanent term
Federico Fazio spent last term on loan at AS Roma, making forty-eight appearances, and the Serie A outfit have now made the move permanent.
The 30-year-old Argentina international joined Tottenham from La Liga side Sevilla in 2014 but found first team action “hard” to come by with the Spurs and spent much of the last eighteen months out on loan. Tottenham Hotspur spokesperson said in an official statement: “We've finally reached an agreement with Roma for the permanent move of Federico. We use the means to wish him all the best for the future.”
