The quarterfinals of the french open are set, so let's take a look at the women's draw. Whoever wins the tournament will become the new Grand Slam champion, as none of the players left in the draw have done it before.

All former Grand Slam champions failed to reach the quarterfinals

Caroline Wozniacki defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova in three sets after two hours of play, as she reached the quarterfinals of the French Open for the second time in her career. The former US Open finalist will play against a young talent Jelena Ostapenko.

Ostapenko defeated former US Open champion Samantha Stosur 2-6 6-2 6-4 to reach her first Career Grand Slam quarterfinals. The 19 year-old player from Latvia is playing great tennis at the moment and she could become a real star in the future.

Kristina Mladenovic survived another battle in three sets against the French Open champion Garbine Muguruza, as she reached her second career Grand Slam quarterfinals. Mladenovic committed 16 double faults in the match, but she somehow managed to win it after two hours of play.

Timea Bacsinszky beat Venus Williams after losing the first set, as she reached the quarterfinals of the French Open for the third straight year. Timea is playing very well after injury and she could be a „dark horse“ at this stage of the competition.

Halep is No.1 favorite to win the title

Simona Halep and Karolina Pliskova are the only two TOP 10 players in the French Open quarterfinals.

Simona Halep reached the quarterfinals without losing the set and the former French Open finalist is the main favorite to win this tournament.

She defeated Carla Suarez Navarro after just one hour of play, while losing only two games. Halep had some ankle injury two weeks ago, but now she looks very well and healthy.

Karolina Pliskova beat Veronica Cepede in three sets, as she reached her first career French Open quarterfinals. The world No.3 lost the first set, but then started to play better and didn't allow an upset.

Elina Svitolina had the hardest job in the 4th round against the biggest surprise of the tournament – Petra Martic. Martic led 5-2 in the third set and had 0-30 on Svitolina's serve, but the Ukrainian won 20 of the last 24 points and took the set 7-5.

Caroline Garcia beat Alize Cornet in straight sets to complete the 4th round of the women's draw.
