Last weekend's United Soccer League (USL) slated fixture saw San Antonio maintaining their dominance by trouncing the Timbers II 4-2. With last week's victory, San Antonio FC continues their run as the only USL club to be unbeaten, while Rhinos also defeated the Charlotte Independence by that same (4-0) goal margin. Two other club sides notched three-goals while ten clean-sheet were also recorded across the United Soccer League last weekend. Here's a look at some USL game results that went down last week.
Saturday fixtures results
San Antonio FC 4-0 Portland Timbers II — Billy Forbes got the opener for the hosts in the 19th minute, but it was two last minutes goals that “added insult to injury” for the Timbers.
Cesar Elizondo netted in twice in the 35th and 92nd minutes. Not to be left out of the last week's goal feast, Zachary Herivaux scored his first San Antonio career goal in the 90th minute. Last weekend victory extended San Antonio FC unbeaten run to seven matches as they remained at the summit of the Western Conference standings with nineteen points.
Bethlehem Steels 1-0 FC Cincinnati — the Steel earned their second victory over Cincinnati in the new 2017 season. Hugh Roberts scored the lone goal of the game in the 86th minute when he got on the end of an Adam Najem's fine cross to send home the last minutes lead for the hosts.
Vancouver WhitecapsII 0-0 Sacramento Republic — it was an empty Saturday evening at the Thunderbird Stadium, as the Caps II and Sacramento played out a 0-0 barren draw.
Sunday fixtures results
Rochester Rhinos 4-0 Charlotte Independence — the Charlotte Independence continued their poor run last Saturday, as they dropped to the bottom of the Eastern Conference table after a 4-0 loss to Rochester Rhinos. Wal Fall got the opener in the 26th minute, while Darius Madison, Kenardo Forbes and Mike Garzi all notched in second half strike for the Rochester Rhinos.
Charleston Battery 2-2 Ottawa Fury — two goals from Romario Williams was not enough for the Charleston as they slipped up against a resilient Ottawa Fury side. Ryan Williams got the opener for the Fury. But shortly after, the Battery responded with an equalizer before the break thanks to a Romario Williams fantastic finish.
The visitors were able to double the lead when Martin Del Campo struck in the 55th minute. But later in the 85th minute Romario Williams netted in his second goal to rescue the battery with at least a point at home.
Rio Grande Valley 3-0 OKC Energy — a superb attacking performance saw the Valley outplayed the Energy with ease. Eric Bird got the early opener of the encounter in the 8th minute after receiving a brilliant through pass from midfielder Derrick Holland. Seven minutes before the half time break, Derrick Holland doubled the lead for the hosts. Jose Escalante made it the third for the Valley in the 67th minute with a fine solo finish.
