When the Dallas Cowboys drafted Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott in the 2016 NFL Draft, no one could have expected what would happen. After a Tony Romo injury, Dak took over the number one spot on the quarterback charts and pushed Romo out the door. Ezekiel came out and ran so hard that Darren McFadden didn't even make his return to the field until the season was almost over with. Now, both Zeke and Dak are the top stars for the Dallas Cowboys and fans love them. By the end of the season, Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott ranked one and two on the list of the Top 50 player when it comes to merchandise sales in the NFL.

Ezekiel Elliott

Ezekiel Elliott was expected to be a star. The big time running back from Ohio State was the Dallas Cowboys first round draft pick in 2016, a high position that has become rare for running backs in recent years. Elliott proved to be worth every penny. Elliott led the NFL in rushing with 1,631 yards while also scoring 15 touchdowns. That was over 300 yards more than the second-place running back in rushing yards. Only two players scored more touchdowns on the ground. Now, Elliott can add on the recognition of being the number one player in the NFL for merchandise sales in 2016, beating out players with years of experience and Hall of Fame careers.

Dak Prescott

Even bigger than Ezekiel Elliott is the story of Dak Prescott.

While he wasn't drafted until the fourth round, Dak was the Cinderella story of the 2016 NFL season. Most Dallas Cowboys fans saw another doomed year when Tony Romo fell to injury in the preseason. However, Dak stepped into the role and played like a veteran. He finished his rookie season with the third best quarterback rating in the NFL behind only Matt Ryan and Tom Brady - the two quarterbacks who made it to the Super Bowl.

He threw for 2,667 yards with 23 touchdowns and only four interceptions. It was a huge year for the young quarterback from Mississippi State and the fans loved him. He ended up ranking second for all NFL players in merchandise sales.

Dak and Zeke talk NFL sales numbers

Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott took the time to talk about what the NFL sales numbers meant to them and both seemed humbled by the news that they topped the charts.

Zeke was humorous as usual, saying that he thinks they should sell bowls and spoons with his face on them to show how much he likes to eat. Elliott said that he was number one in toys sales because kids love him and it is a dream come true. Dak made sure to point out that he plays for the Dallas Cowboys, America's Team. He said the coolest thing for him was to see fans with Dak Prescott jerseys on from the start of the season and how much he was honored. For Prescott, his dream is to see his face on a dollar bill.
