In a shocking turn of events, it appears that Disney Plus will not be reviving any of the canceled Marvel Netflix series, which includes "Daredevil," "Luke Cage," and "Iron Fist." Original reports have suggested that Marvel's canceled shows would be moving to Disney Plus. Netflix had just recently announced the cancellation of "Daredevil" after three seasons.

Screen Rant reported that rumors were swirling that Disney was planning to release new seasons of the Marvel Netflix shows on their upcoming streaming service, which launches next year. This was driven by Marvel being committed to keeping the series growing, as they mentioned in their statement regarding "Daredevil." Disney has painted their new streaming service as kid-friendly, while the Marvel shows on Netflix were more mature oriented.

Disney does not want Marvel/Netflix shows on Disney Plus

Rolling Stone journalist Alan Sepinwall took to Twitter, discussing the possibility of the series being relaunched on Disney Plus. Sepinwall said that Disney executives have already discussed relaunching the shows on their new platform but have said they don't want these shows on their service.

Sepinwall explained that there's a distinct difference between Marvel Studios and Marvel Entertainment. Behind the scenes, drama led to the split-up of the two subsidiaries. The Disney Plus shows will be created by Marvel Studio executives, who are reported to not get along with Marvel TV executives.

Sepinwall has said that it's possible Disney could make a Daredevil series in the future, but he says they would recast, similar to what happened with Sony's Spiderman with Tom Holland.

While there has not been an official statement confirming this news, Sepinwall is too close to officials to be off base and just making up conversations with Marvel and Disney executives. Sepinwall has pointed out that all the Marvel shows in the works for Disney Plus are being produced by Marvel Studios, including the Loki and Scarlet Witch limited series.

Marvel Television not expected to be a part of Disney Plus

Screen Geek said that many insiders believed that Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." would be produced for Disney Plus, but that appears to not be happening anytime soon, as ABC renewed the series for a new season, keeping it on the network for another season. It now appears that Marvel Television will not actually be making any shows for the Disney Plus service.

Rumors are swirling that Disney could be moving future of Marvel Television to Hulu. Disney plans to focus on a rollout of Hulu, once the Fox deal is complete. The plan is to move all mature Disney content to Hulu. This could be the future destination for a revival of "Defenders" or other canceled Marvel shows.
