"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" spoilers: What we know so far

The franchise delivers as always bringing moments of high action, emotion, and even comedy

At first, it seems as if the movie carries two plots.

As time goes on, those “two” plots seamlessly become one, bringing us to the climax of the movie. The separation of the plot allows Rey to go on her own journey while allowing Finn, Rose, and Poe to forge their own trio.

The smooth flow of the plot and action is a testament to Rian Johnson's fine directing of the film. The majority of the pacing seemed well done allowing enough time for character dialogue and action. The action scenes, especially those toward the end of the film, provide a suspense of the character's fates more than once. Overall, Johnson took the film in a direction that will lead to an epic finale in the final installment.

The ensemble of actors gives a phenomenal performance completed by a surprise appearance from an old friend

Finn (John Boyega) and Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) have a great chemistry that can be seen at any point in the movie, from moments small to large. From their first meeting, it was obvious that a beautiful relationship was beginning to blossom.

It is one that is hopefully to be explored more in the next installment.

Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill once again bring forth their amazing sibling dynamic as General Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker. The raw emotion left by the two actors leaves you wanting more of the brother and sister interaction. In a way, it also forms an ache and longing for the days of Leia, Han, and Luke.

The amount of General Organa we receive is satisfying. Fisher’s time on screen also allows a mentor/mentee dynamic to build between Organa and Poe Dameron (Oscar Issac). It’s a brilliant dynamic that leaves the impression of the answer to the future of Fisher’s legendary character.

The connection many speculated about regarding Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) takes an unexpected turn that will obviously need to be explored further in "Episode IX." It is a crucial point in the development of their relationship that extends beyond the characters themselves.
