The Bachelor” curse happened once again, and this time it involved the most popular bachelor to date, Ben Higgins, and his ex-fiance, lauren bushnell. Their new show, “Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After” already hinted that something was not working out between them that led the 29-year-old TV personality to call off their highly-anticipated wedding.

The show’s host, Chris Harrison, revealed during “The Bachelor” season 20 finale that Ben Higgins was so in love with the woman that he chose that he was ready to marry her anytime, anywhere. The host then shared that they already had Ben’s pastor on standby at the time just incase the software salesman from Warsaw, Indiana chose to tie the knot right then and there.

Although Ben Higgins eventually chose to perfectly plan the wedding he believed his fiancé, Lauren Bushell, deserved, people were confident that their relationship would last despite the underwhelming rate of successful marriages that have come from the reality television show.

Ben & Lauren's relationship was expected to last longer than it did

Unfortunately, just like most of the other contestants before them, Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell called it quits as well. The duo shocked the world when they announced their split earlier this week. “The Bachelor” season 20 stars released a joint statement, stating that they have gone their separate ways but will remain friends.

Although Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell did not reveal the exact reason for their split, Chris Harrison did share what he thought went wrong.

"I know that they have struggled with the show and then kind of continuing on and doing their reality show and kind of where the show stopped and then where life began," “The Bachelor” host told iHeartRadio's "ON With Mario Lopez," as reported by "ET." "So I know they were fighting through a bunch of stuff." Harrison then added that he did not expect this to happen at all.

Ben & Lauren head to Splitsville

Now that they are officially single again, Lauren Bushnell revealed that she is trying to continue the life that she had before she joined “The Bachelor.”

"I'm moving back to SoCal," the 27-year-old flight attendant told People. "That's where my life was before the show -- my friends, my siblings.

I love the beach, the healthy lifestyle and the energy that Los Angeles has to offer. I'm definitely a SoCal girl at heart!" Lauren Bushnell also shared her future plans, like making a career change, and trying her luck at modelling.
