A24 sets a release date of “Killing of a Sacred Deer.” Its director David Frankel and president John Hodges claim that the movie will hit a theater near you this November. In recent years, A24 has released dozens of films including “Ginger & Rosa,” “Spring Breakers,” “The Bling Ring,” “The Spectacular Now,” “Enemy,” and “The Rover.” The company was picked up last year for domestic and international rights to the project. It will also release “The Lobster” by the end of 2017.
About ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer.'
The story revolves around a surgeon who attempts to integrate a teenage boy into his family, but the teen’s actions are strange.
He shows more interest in becoming a surgeon than his engineering career. So, he forces the doctor to make an unthinkable sacrifice. A recently released teaser trailer of the film gives glimpses of the characters of Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman, creating excitement among fans. “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” is directed and produced by Yorgos Lanthimos, while Efthymis Filippou has written its screenplay and dialogues. The movie will premiere at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. Its Nov. 3 release will see it open opposite the wide releases of Disney's Marvel movie “Thor: Ragnarok,” STX's sequel “A Bad Moms Christmas,” and Paramount's thriller “Suburbicon.” We look forward to all of these films and have high expectations.
The filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos
While speaking to Variety, the filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos said that he will upload several movie posters on the official Twitter and Facebook accounts. Raffey Cassidy, Bill Camp, Alicia Silverstone, and Sunny Suljic have been recruited to play the supporting roles. Post-production on the movie is finished, with Film4 Productions and Element Pictures co-producing the project.
In January 2017, it was announced that either Selena Gomez or Nicole Kidman would play the lead role in “The Killing of a Sacred Deer.” Later on, the director confirmed Nicole for the project as Selena was not available for negotiations. Most of the scenes have been shot in the affluent Hyde Park neighborhood.
A24 is a popular production house of the US, founded by Daniel Katz, David Fenkel, and John Hodges.
The company is behind various blockbusters, including “Spring Breakers,” “The Witch,” “Ex Machina,” “Moonlight,” and “The Carmichael Show.” It would not be wrong to say that nearly all of A24 releases end up being dark genre movies. We cannot tell if “Killing of a Sacred Deer” is a film of the same lineup or not as the officials have refused to comment anything.
