It has now been confirmed that Universal is developing a "Fast And Furious" spin-off centering on Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson. The project is in the early stages, and Chris Morgan (Tokyo Drift) has started scripting dialogues and the story. In recent years, Universal and Warner Bros. have begun developing spin-offs of the blockbuster franchises. As the film is being scripted, it is impossible to give it a date at present. Meanwhile, the two actors have resolved their feud and patched things up.
Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson in a spinoff movie
After the mega-success of “The Fate of the Furious,” Universal announced more films in the franchise. The spinoff will feature Jason Statham as Deckard and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Luke Hobbs. Screenwriter Chris is currently completing his work, and the shooting may begin by the end of 2017.

Johnson joined the franchise in “Fast & Furious 6,” while Jason became a part in “Fast Five.” It means, the two celebrities are not new to the film franchise and they're ready to take it further.
The spin-off will open with the union between Luke Hobbs and Decker Shaw, followed by dozens of action sequences. Dwayne Johnson has been attached to dozens of projects, including a sequel to “San Andreas,” and a reboot of “Big Trouble in Little China.” But it’s not clear whether the actor will play a leading role in the spin-off or a supporting character.
‘The Fate of the Furious’
“The Fate of the Furious” is an action movie directed by F. Gary Gray and scripted by Chris Morgan. It is the eighth installment in “The Fast and the Furious” franchise. Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Scott Eastwood, Elsa Pataky, and Nathalie Emmanuel are in the leading roles, while Kurt Russell and Charlize Theron play the supporting characters.
The story is about Dominic (Diesel) who settles down with his wife Letty (Rodriguez). A terrorist, Cipher, forces him to work with her as an agent.
Plans for the movie were announced in 2015 when Vin Diesel made an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” The film has been shot in New York City, Havana, Atlanta, and Cleveland. “The Fate of the Furious” was released in the first week of April, and theatrically released in the United States on April 14, 2017. It has received positive comments from critics and grossed over $650 million worldwide. The film earned more than $520 million during the opening weekend and set the record for the highest-grossing opening of the era.
