Hold on to your glasses of lemonade and coveted music awards. Beyonce is coming for the year 2017, starting with a performance at the 2017 Coachella Festival. Already poised to make Grammy history, the “Crazy in Love” singer will be the first female artist to headline the festival since Bjork did in 2007. Although she previously appeared at last year’s Global Citizens Festival, the pop star rarely performs for such events. However, Beyonce is not the only artist whose name has been added to this all-star roster. Beyonce and Radiohead, who will also headline, both spent much of last year on the road promoting their records.
On the other hand, rapper Kendrick Lamar did make the rounds last year, performing at festivals and throwing in a minor tour as well.
Street spirit on a Friday
The English alternative rock band Radiohead will kick things off as the first headlining act. Mac Miller will be performing also, so this may mean his pop princess girlfriend Ariana Grande could pull a surprise cameo onstage. Other Friday performers include: Empire of the Sun; Travis Scott; Preservation Hall Jazz Band; King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and more.
This child is destined to slay on Saturday
Beyonce will come on stage Saturday to heat things up. Other highlights for day include: Gucci Mane; DJ Snake; The Head and the Heart; The Atomics; Bon Iver; Future; Two Door Cinema Club; Schoolboy Q, and string of other artists.
That’s a wrap with rapper Kendrick Lamar
Closing out the fun on Sunday will be Kendrick Lamar, but he will not be alone. Also taking the stage to perform will be: Lorde; DJ Khaled; Lee Fields & the Expressions; Marshmello; Maya Jane Coles; Lil Uzi Vert, and many others.
The full lineup can be seen on the Coachella website. Passes go on sale Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
PST. Concert-goers have made a trek toward Coachella Valley (Indio, California) for the world-famous two weekends of music festival since 1999. The festival will take place on April 14th – 16th, and 21st – 23rd.
