Mama June Shannon appeared on the celebrity plastic surgery show "Botched" recently. She's enjoyed weight loss and wanted a tummy tuck. But in her makeover quest, she seems unconcerned about her obese daughter Alana Thompson from whom Shannon got her reality TV show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo." Shannon bragged about the crazy sugary "pageant crack" she fed Alana (Mountain Dew and Pixie Stix). Is it any wonder with diets like this that more kids are obese, have ADD (attention deficit disorder) are depressed or suicidal? The average American kid eats 52 teaspoons of sugar daily, and "The Doctors" TV show sees links there, especially for morbidly overweight kids like Honey Boo Boo.
Happiness Diet is magic bullet for kids' health
"The Doctors" tout a refined sugarfree diet called the Happiness Dietto treat ADD, teen depressionand childhood obesity. Honey Boo Boo was warned on an episode of "The Doctors" to lose weight or face diabetes and early death. Now there's a depressing thought. The Happiness Diet aids weight loss and reverses or prevents ADHD (attention deficit with hyperactivity disorder), ADD, depression, mood swings and anxiety that are so prevalent in tweens and teens.
Good mood food diet could end childhood obesity
If you're one of the average Americans who eat 52 teaspoons of sugar, you're consuming well over one cup of sugar a day and over 403 cups in a year.
The TV docs didn't say if this amount included natural fruit or milk sugar but it probably didn't. Most people eat little fresh anything, let alone produce and milk they drink is usually sugared. That's 770 extra calories a day in empty, useless junk carbs. The revolutionary Happiness Diet nixes or greatly limits refined sugar and other foods that are known to cause depression.
Bad mood foods (junk and processed food, soda pop, fatty and fried fast foods, refined sugar, empty carbs and fiberless starch) are replaced with good mood foods (whole grains, protein, vitamin-rich fruits and veggies). When that happens, it sets off a chain of good things in the body--weight loss, better coping skills, regulated insulin and blood sugar, healthy brain function, mood elevation.
How Alana could avoid being a stat
It sounds so negative to talk about children in terms of early death. But childhood obesity is at an epidemic level. A growing number of kids are growing unhealthy BMI (body mass index) numbers. They're getting diagnosed with adult lifestyle diseases--Type 2 diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure) cholesterol and heart problems. Many Americans are taking antidepressants and a horrifying number of kids take them. Then there are the kiddie lifestyle diseases like ADD and ADHD. One of the TV doctors was applauded for saying that most diagnoses of ADD are really NDD--nutritional deficit disorder. Sometimes kids have to be scared into getting healthy. But the happy news is that they can fix or prevent obesity, depression, attention, and learning problems, and lifestyle health concerns simply by amending that sick-making American diet.
