It probably came as no surprise that octomom Nadya Suleman resorted to making porn videos and working as a stripper. What may shock you (and will curl your toes) are Nadya's bizarre reasons for the X-rated work. The single mom of 14 with IVF octuplets, prescription drug addict, welfare scammer, plastic surgeryqueen, $1 million debtor, and suspected child neglecter shared those in an interview in Woman's Day. Octomom says she's ashamed of stripping and the dirty movies. But that's all behind her now, and she's returned to her former job as a psych nurse.
And really, Nadya says, it was heroic of her to do pornographyas she was taking one for the team.
Octomom reality TV show didn't pan out
Most people would argue that exotic dancer, stripper, and porn star are not the healthiest occupations for a mother. Nadya claims that it was all done for the children--she refused to prostitute the kids by putting them on TV (presumably meaning on a reality TV show) so she sold herself instead. For that read, no station wanted her for a reality show. That celebrity status was the only reason she had invitro fertilization in the first place, many people suggested. Octomom probably saw all the free stuff mom of octupletsKate Gosselingot on "Kate Plus 8" and the Duggarfamily got out of "19 Kids and Counting" andwanted a piece.
Nadya Suleman, convicted welfare cheater
When all eight (count them) of her implanted eggs survived, everyone fell over themselves to help Sulemanuntil they realized that A) she had six kids already and was on welfare and B) got IVF while receiving government assistance. And concern turned to scorn. Suleman was convicted on welfare fraud, ran up a million in debt and auctioned off her free house to raise money.
But she needed more money and being a porn star paid.
Sad reality of disparity in earnings
Sadly, Octomom is correct that pornography and stripping pays the bills where many other jobs don't. Pole dancersand strippers make ten times in one hour what servers make all night. To feed such a brood in a California economy costs a lot.
You could argue that had Suleman used her welfare money, food stamps and Medicaid wisely, she could have managed. But you would be wasting your breath. It will be interesting to see if she can make what she made stripping as thepsychiatric nurseshe claims to be. Octomom plans to go to college to finish a Master's degree which will be expensive. Unfortunately, with Octomom's track record of lies, that "nursing career" probably translates to part-time hospital housekeeper for minimum wage. Hopefully she doesn't add prescription drug peddling to her list of occupations.
