1. It’s not true that under Biden 100% of new jobs went to “illegal migrants”

The Lie: During a speech at the Economic Club of New York on Thursday Sept.

5, the republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said: “100% of the jobs created under this administration has gone to illegal migrants that came into our country”.

  • Country: Us
  • Languages and outlets: English
  • Where spotted: Original video

The Truth:

  • Trump and other Republicans have repeatedly and falsely claimed that nearly all job growth under the Biden administration has come from illegal immigration. However, this is inaccurate, as the number of employed American-born workers has increased by about 6%, while the number of employed foreign-born workers has grown by 22% during Biden's tenure.
  • According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics data, under Trump the number of employed foreign-born workers declined by 1.6%, while American-born workers also saw a decrease of about 1.4%. The labor department’s category for foreign-born workers includes legal immigrants, naturalized citizens, undocumented workers, refugees, and temporary workers, but it does not specify how many fall into each group. As a result, the rise in jobs among foreign-born workers cannot be conclusively attributed to an increase in undocumented workers.

2. A Facebook ad promotes untested cure for high blood pressure

The Lie: Social media ads are promoting so-called "breakthrough" treatments for high blood pressure and other illnesses, using the image of Barbara O'Neill, an alternative health advocate who has been barred from practicing medicine in multiple Australian states.

  • Country: Us
  • Languages and outlets: English, ad on Facebook
  • Where spotted: Facebook

The Truth:

  • Social media ads are featuring Barbara O'Neill, an alternative health advocate, to promote unverified treatments for hypertension, although her spouse claims she has not endorsed these products.
  • Experts caution that there is no scientific basis for the efficacy of the advertised supplements. O'Neill has been banned from practicing medicine in several Australian states.
  • The ads direct users to the website brightherizon, which, as of September 6, 2024, is currently unavailable.

No, this teacher was not jailed for being against transgender individuals

The Lie: Several far-right and pro-Russian Telegram channels spread news about Enoch Burke, a Christian evangelist teacher, falsely claiming he was arrested for opposing transgender rights after his suspension from an Irish school in August 2022.

  • Country: Ireland
  • Languages and outlets: Russian, English, Italian, and others
  • Where spotted: Telegram

The Truth:

  • Enoch Burke, a history and German teacher, was suspended for refusing to use a transgender student's preferred pronouns. After his suspension, Burke continued trying to teach at the school, leading to a court order barring him from the premises. His arrests occurred for violating these court orders, not for his views on transgender issues. Burke was jailed in both September 2022 and September 2023 for breaching these orders, totaling over 400 days in prison.

A London school with only AI teachers? Not entirely true

The Lie: The Italian Telegram channel Consenso Disinformato shared a video from the conspiracy theory channel ByoBlu, claiming a London school has opened without any teachers, where AI handles all the teaching.

The post commented, “Welcome to hell.”

  • Country: UK
  • Languages and outlets: Multiple, including Italian
  • Where spotted: Telegram

The Truth:

  • David Game College, a private London school, has introduced the UK’s first “teacher-less” course with 20 students, costing £28,000 per year.
  • Lessons are primarily led by AI, but real teachers supervise and assist, especially with subjects AI struggles with, such as art and sex education.
  • Sky News reported that “learning coaches” will be present to monitor students and provide support.

5. Vladimir Putin falsely claims that Joe Biden was “yanked” from the presidential race

The Lie: During the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that “Joe Biden was yanked from the race.”

  • Country: Russia
  • Languages and outlets: Multiple, including Russian
  • Where spotted: Telegram

The Truth:

  • Joe Biden has not been removed from the presidential race. No credible sources or official statements support this claim. Despite challenges related to his age, there has been no indication from his party or campaign that he was forced to withdraw.

  • After months of speculation, on July 21, 2024, Biden announced his decision to withdraw from the 2024 election, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor.
