The La Galaxy got a big win over the Chicago Fire on Saturday with a score of 1-0. The game was also played in a windy and quite cold Chicago. The victory for the Galaxy was huge in the sense that they gained three points for an away game.

The man of the game was obviously Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic when he scored with an epic header during the extra time of the first half. The goal was the only goal, but it was enough to give the LA Galaxy a positive boost for upcoming matches.

Many factors came to play when considering how the Angeleno club team achieved an important victory while playing away.

Here I will discuss three of the top factors that contributed to this win.

Starting Ibrahimovic was a huge plus

Against the Chicago Fire, Ibrahimovic had his first start, and it proved to be very successful for himself as well as his club. In the last two games, Ibrahimovic came off the bench, and it proved to be great for only one game.

In his debut game against Los Angeles FC, Ibrahimovic scored two goals helping the LA Galaxy come back from a 3-0 deficit. The second goal was also the victory goal, which gave the Galaxy the first victory in the new derby series against the LAFC, the new expansion team this season.

For Ibrahimovic’s second game against Sporting KC, he did not get to score. He only played in the second half, but his efforts did not quite help the Galaxy win.

In fact, the Galaxy did not even score, and it was an away game.

The final score against SKC was 0-2, and it showed weakness by the Galaxy since losing at home. SKC is currently in first place in the Western Conference, so the match was tough. However, the Galaxy did not look good at all and showed that it was not elite.

With Ibrahimovic starting on Saturday against a Chicago Fire in tough climate conditions, proved to be a major threat.

A player like Ibrahimovic is better off as a starter than a bench warmer, due to the fact that he will have a lot of time to score. Of course, he did against the Fire, and it was phenomenal.

Goalkeeper stepped up to the plate

After being scored five times in the last two games, goalkeeper David Bingham stepped it up and earned his paycheck.

Stats show that the Fire took seven shots on goal with four of them on target. Those four shots on target were saved by Bingham.

Yes, Bingham got himself four saves and a clean sheet. Anytime a keeper gets a clean sheet, it is golden. The shutout was also done while playing away and that proves that the Galaxy has a decent defense. The only thing now for Bingham and his defense is to stay cohesive continuously.

The Galaxy using forwards better

The Galaxy used their main squeeze Zlatan Ibrahimovic to win the game, but the other forward, Ola Kamara, was also integrated into the game really well. Kamara, who has not scored since the first game of the season, made sure that he was a threat, as well, in Chicago.

Kamara managed to get himself two shots and one on target. In fact, he was involved in a play that led to his own goal. That goal was annulled because Kamara was ruled offsides. However, it took a video review to determine the offsides, which turned out to be quite controversial.

Still, Kamara was always showing his deadly presence in the front and helped the Galaxy with a successful attack. Kamara has the speed and skills to be the main attacker, and he showed those traits in the last game against the Fire.
