An unreleased build of Apple’s highly anticipated iOS 11 was leaked to the press ahead of its major event on Tuesday. According to 9to5Mac, a tech blog dedicated to Apple news and rumors, the names of the new phones will be the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the iPhone X.

The first two models, are only updates of the current iPhones 7 and 7 Plus. As new features, they are expected to have glass backs, the new A11 chip and wireless charging via an inductive charging pad. Prior to the leaking, it was expected that the new models would be named iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus.

The leak also largely affirmed what many customers have been hearing over the last few months about the high-end iPhone X.

What is to be expected?

Consumers can expect a 5.8-inch OLED display that covers almost the entire front of the phone, making of it an almost bezel-less device. Instead of the previously expected Touch ID fingerprint reader, it will offer a new “Face ID,” which allows users to log into their phones through its facial recognition software. For that, the new design includes a small notch on the top to make room for the camera and the facial recognition technology.

The high-end model will have several other new features, according to 9to5Mac, including updated cameras and wireless charging.

The OLED technology of the display will also provide high-quality 4K images, with high contrast and black levels.

‘Animojis’ and some other new products

One of the features that might be a success among iPhone users is the so called ‘Animoji’, which is a new customized version of the ubiquitous emojis. According to 9to5Mac, by means of the built-in 3D camera, the iPhone X will allow the user to customize animated emojis featuring one’s own facial expressions and even one’s own voice.

In addition to the iPhone X, Apple fans can expect new features on other devices, such as the Airpods, which will have a new battery charging indicator on the outside of the case. The company may also release the 4K Apple TV and the Apple Watch Series during Tuesday’s event.

According to 9to5Mac, it was also possible to discover details on these new products from a new leak.

The publication confirmed that the TVOS 11 was leaked on Monday, a day before Apple’s big event. The new TV, differently from previous models, will have a new name: Apple TV 4K, to demonstrate the high-quality images it will offer. The publication also said that the current 1080 model will stick around for a while to maintain an affordable price point.
