At least one person was injured in an accident in Downtown Manhattan when the car jumped onto the sidewalk and crashed into a group of pedestrians, the New York Daily News reported. According to the publication, the accident occurred in Manhattan, at the intersection of 37th West Street and Ninth Avenue. The victim with severe injuries was taken to the hospital, several more people were rendered medical assistance on the spot.

The police confirmed the information about the incident and the number of victims. According to them, the women driving the Chevrolet Tahoe SUV with seven other people and one child inside it, hit the car's bumper with the rear of a black livery cab as they both took a right turn to the 9th Avenue about 12:30 p.m

The incident occurred near the Lincoln Tunnel, passing under the Hudson River and linking Manhattan with the state of New Jersey.

Eyewitnesses of the incident

According to eyewitnesses, the heavy off-road car moved on 37th street in Manhattan and has collided with the car moving in the same direction. From the impact, the SUV flew to the sidewalk and was sandwiched between the tree and the wall of the house.

Jonny Giordani, the owner of the nearby cafe said, the driver saw the Yellow traffic light so decided to accelerate and as her car collided with the taxi, car direction changed dramatically and ran onto to the sidewalk.

According to the 28-year-old clerk, Jamel Daiffallah, who was working at another cafe, the car went up on the sidewalk, crashed into a fence and a tree, and then knocked down a woman and a man walking on the sidewalk.

He also added that two other guys were also hit by the car but were not badly injured.

One of the witnesses, Mohan Anluwalih said that woman was badly hit by the car and bleeding all over her body with blood.

According to the officials, the woman who was hit by the car was taken to the Bellevue Hospital with bruising on her head and to one leg.

Medication was given to other nine people who had minor injuries in the accident.
