With the NBA regular season close to being a month old, let’s take a look at some players who are off to disappointing starts so far.
Players who have been disappointed due to injury are not included, it’s just those who haven’t performed up to expectations yet. Rookies were not considered as well.
Eric Bledsoe, Pelicans
Acquired by the Pelicans this offseason, it wouldn’t have surprised anyone if Bledsoe saw more of a role in New Orleans now that he was outside Giannis Antetokounmpo’s shadow. Instead, his 11.3 points and 4.1 assists per contest so far are his lowest since the 2012-13 season.

Devonte’ Graham, Hornets
Not only is Graham’s 30.1 percent shooting from the field atrocious, he is shooting an unsightly 27.9 percent from inside the three-point arc. He does own an impressive near 5-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio though which is 11th-best in the league according to NBA Team Rankings.

Jusuf Nurkic, Trail Blazers
Nurkic was extremely impressive in his 13 regular season/postseason games in the bubble posting averages of 16.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.3 blocks after not playing in a regular season game prior to the shutdown. The momentum hasn’t continued to this season (averages of 9.8 points and 7.7 rebounds), and he is now expected to miss at least eight weeks with a broken wrist according to Hoops Rumors.

Kelly Oubre Jr., Warriors
The Warriors traded for Oubre Jr. after Klay Thompson went down with a season-ending injury prior to the season beginning. Chucking up 5.5 threes per game and making less than 20 percent of them (19.7) isn’t what Golden State had in mind.
Steve Kerr said "I don't anticipate" changing the starting lineup: "It's so early in the season. I want Kelly (Oubre) to gain some rhythm and some confidence. He's a proven player. He's been doing this for years. He'll get going."

Lou Williams, Clippers
While his shooting numbers are solid, Williams has been far less productive than he’s been in over a decade. The three-time Sixth Man of the Year. In his first 12 games this season, Williams has seen his scoring and assist average sliced by more than half of what they were over his first three seasons with the Clippers.

Trae Young, Hawks
One of the most dynamic offensive players last season, Young thus far has seen his scoring average drop by 6.7 points compared to 2019-20 while shooting less than 40 percent from the field and 30 percent from deep. Two times this season, he has scored seven points or less which is something he did only once all of last season.
It’s about time for the Hawks to move John Collins...after his lil outburst about the offensive Trae Young and the Hawks haven’t been the same! Just saying tho...
