With week 5 now in the books after Tuesday night’s Bills/Titans game, let’s look at the players who had successful fantasy games despite being mostly unowned.
To be eligible for this list, the player must have been owned in less than 25 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues. Each week, one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, and one tight end will be highlighted.
We start with a quarterback who has become a familiar face for this list.
QB - Ryan Fitzpatrick, Dolphins (350 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns, 16 rushing yards)
With Tua Tagovailoa looking on Miami’s bench, fantasy players have been slow to pick up Fitzpatrick, who makes this list for the third time in the first five weeks. It was the third time.

RB - T.J. Yeldon, Bills (52 rushing yards, 1 reception, 22 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown)
In a blowout loss on Tuesday, Yeldon received most of his touches in the fourth quarter. His reception of the year also turned out to be his first score early in the fourth quarter.

RB - J.D. McKissic, Football Team (3 rushing yards, 6 receptions, 46 receiving yards)
Playing on about half the offensive snaps this season, McKissic has done much of his damage in the passing game. He has 15 receptions for Washington over the past two games.
I like the JD McKissic/Antonio Gibson backfield combo in Washington. That’s a positive

WR - Chase Claypool, Steelers (7 receptions, 110 receiving yards, 3 receiving touchdowns, 6 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown)
With Diontae Johnson leaving Week 5 with injury, Claypool stepped up in a major way. According to ESPN, his 42.6 points are the seventh-highest weekly total by a rookie receiver since 1950.

WR - Travis Fulgham, Eagles (10 receptions, 152 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown)
While Philadelphia has had many injuries at wide receiver, Fulgham likely has found a role on this team even as they get healthier. After scoring his first professional touchdown in Week 4, he was targeted 13 times on Sunday.

TE - Darren Fells, Texans (2 receptions, 57 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown)
Scoring seven touchdowns last season, Fells has been a touchdown-reliant fantasy option over the last two years. Sunday saw him catch his second touchdown of the season, and he has four games this year with exactly two receptions.
I am the third highest scoring team in a 14 team league. But I’m playing 2nd highest team that started Darren Fells! Needed 23 from Josh Allen. He’s at 18.32 in this league. And he’s done. I am titling so hard right now. You have got to be freaking kidding me. #FantasyLife.
