On Saturday, September 5, NFL teams were forced to trim their roster to 53 players.
Here is the most notable player that was cut by each team. Players who were cut September 3 or later were considered which is why players such as Leonard Fournette and Mohamed Sanu are not included.
Some of these players will end up starting the year on the 16-man practice squad of the team that cut them. Some have already resurfaced with new teams.
Arizona Cardinals - Kentrell Brice, S
Undrafted out of Louisiana Tech in 2016, Brice was in the starting secondary for the Packers 10 times in 2018.

Buffalo Bills - Andre Roberts, WR
It was a bit surprising to see Roberts hit the cutting block as he has been named to the Pro Bowl as a return specialist each of the last two seasons and was a First Team All-Pro with the Jets in 2018. According to USA Today though, the Bulls fully intend to re-sign him.

Chicago Bears - Cairo Santos, K
According to ESPN, there is a chance that Santos is brought back as Eddy Pineiro has been sidelined for most of camp with a groin injury, and it’s unclear if he will be ready to kick come Week 1.
#Bears will release kicker Cairo Santos, but he could be the team's kicker entering the regular season.

Eddy Pineiro (groin) may not be healthy enough to kick next Sunday in Detroit, @CEmma670 reports: https://t.co/g4uJfm9vlj pic.twitter.com/iiZnJWsR6t
Cincinnati Bengals - Brandon Allen, QB
Forced into action for three starts under center for the Broncos in 2019, Allen wasn’t very accurate (completed 46.4 percent of his passes).
Report: Bengals waive former Arkansas QB Brandon Allen...hopefully he finds a spot somewhere...probably not going to be many opportunities behind Joe Burrow, anyway. #wps #arkansas #razorbacks (FREE): https://t.co/4RlD3mwsU3 pic.twitter.com/N3m6cKseTQ

Denver Broncos - Todd Davis, LB
Davis has started 58 games for Denver over the last four seasons and has combined to total 248 tackles in the last two.
Another cutdown surprise: The #Broncos have released ILB Todd Davis, source said.
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) September 4, 2020
Six seasons in Denver, four as a starter. Davis had dealt with injuries in camp the past two years. But a productive veteran now available.
Detroit Lions - David Blough, QB
With Matthew Stafford injured, Blough started five games in 2019 but was unable to win any while throwing four touchdowns compared to six interceptions.
Not sure if David Blough will be back with the Lions tomorrow or wind up elsewhere, so lemme post this story one more time ...
— Chris Burke (@ChrisBurkeNFL) September 6, 2020
It’s about Blough, the late (and heroic) Tyler Trent and a beautiful friendship that extended well beyond football.https://t.co/jELBeO7pdq
Green Bay Packers - Jake Kumerow, WR
Kumerow had multiple catches in four games last season and added a 23-yard reception in the NFC Championship Game.

Jacksonville Jaguars - Mike Glennon, QB
Glennon has started 22 games since being drafted in 2013, 13 of which came in his rookie season.

— Chicago Tribune Sports (@ChicagoSports) September 6, 2020
Kansas City Chiefs - Matt Moore, QB
The 36-year-old Moore started two games for Kansas City last year and has a career record of 16-16 as a starting quarterback.
As for Matt Moore's release, I'm told Chiefs plan on bringing him back to practice squad. Remember teams can add up to six veterans with more than four accrued seasons this season. Moore's agent, a KC native, emphasized Moore is fine with the move and wants to be with the Chiefs.
— Herbie Teope (@HerbieTeope) September 5, 2020
Las Vegas Raiders - Damarious Randall, S
A first round pick by Green Bay in 2015, Randall has started 56 games and intercepted 14 passes over five seasons.

Los Angeles Chargers - Ryan Groy, C
Groy started a total of 14 games for the Bills spamming from 2016-18.

* Bucs yet to officially announce
Los Angeles Rams - John Kelly, RB
Kelly received only three carries last season, but he had 25 rush attempts in the last two games of 2018.
I’m hoping the Rams release of RB John Kelly is a positive indicator of Darrell Henderson’s (hamstring) status for Week One.

Just reading tea leaves, would they want college free agent Xavier Jones backing up Brown & rookie Akers in the SNF opener?
Miami Dolphins - Josh Rosen, QB
It has been a horrific two years for Rosen in the pros after he was selected 10th overall by the Cardinals in 2018. He will be joining the Buccaneers practice squad.

New York Giants - Jon Halapio, C
Halapio was the starting center for the Giants in their first 15 games of last season but missed the season finale with an Achilles injury.
Former Giants C Jon Halapio is indeed declining the Giants' offer of a spot on the practice squad (as @DDuggan21 reported). When he signed last week, he thought the Giants' plan was to keep him on the 53-man roster.
— Ralph Vacchiano (@RVacchianoSNY) September 6, 2020
He's already drawn interest from several other teams.
New York Jets - Donte Moncrief, WR
The 27-year-old Moncrief was able to grab 13 touchdown receptions in the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
Former Steelers cut on Saturday: JJ Wilcox, Brian Allen, CJ Goodwin, Tevin Jones, PJ Locke, Patrick Morris, Jerald Hawkins, Xavier Grimble, Josh Dobbs, Tony Brooks-James, Anthony Chickillo, Dravon Askew-Henry, Johnny Holton, Donte Moncrief, A.Q. Shipley and Sean Davis.

Pittsburgh Steelers - Paxton Lynch, QB
Known as a first round bust, Lynch has just a 1-3 record as a starting quarterback since being taken 26th overall in 2016.
Two years ago on the day after the roster deadline, the Broncos waived Paxton Lynch and claimed Kevin Hogan. Last year on that day, the Broncos claimed Brandon Allen, preparing to place Drew Lock on IR. Nothing like that coming at QB today, which is a nice change.
— Andrew Mason (@MaseDenver) September 6, 2020
San Francisco 49ers - Dion Jordan, DE
Selected third overall in 2013 by the Dolphins, Jordan has just 10.5 sacks and four starts in his career.

Seattle Seahawks - Paul Richardson, WR
Richardson’s best season came in 2017 while with the Seahawks when he caught 44 passes for 703 yards and six touchdowns.
As the Jadeveon Clowney watch lingered Saturday, the Seahawks set their initial 53-man roster without him. Decisions to release Paul Richardson and waive Shaquem Griffin were among the most notable move the team made on roster-cut day. https://t.co/2ragyYOKKp
— The Seattle Times (@seattletimes) September 6, 2020
Tampa Bay Buccaneers - A.Q. Shipley, C
The 34-year-old Shipley has started 70 games in his career including all 16 with the Cardinals last season.
We don't know if Bucs will claim any players cut by other teams off waivers today, but it makes sense that they'll sign RB Leonard Fournette and re-sign C A.Q. Shipley (cut in roster maneuvering Saturday), putting WR John Hurst and OL John Molchon on IR (as little as 3 weeks).

Tennessee Titans - Trevor Siemian, QB
Siemian was Denver’s starting quarterback 24 times in 2017-18 and posted a winning record of 13-11. He is expected to start the year on Tennessee’s practice squad.
