As we do each week, let’s take a look at the Week 8 fantasy stars who were likely unowned.

In order to be eligible for inclusion, the player must have been owned in less than 25 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues. Every week, one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, and one tight end will be highlighted.

1

Quarterback - Derek Carr, Raiders (285 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns)

Carr is beginning to prove himself to at least be a quality fill-in quarterback for bye weeks as Sunday marked the fourth time in the last five games in which he passed for multiple touchdowns. Week 8 was his first three-touchdown performance since Week 13 of last year.

2

Running back - Raheem Mostert, 49ers (60 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown)

Mostert didn’t see the field til late in the 49ers’ blowout victory over the Panthers, but he was extremely efficient. He played just 14 snaps but received a carry in nine of them which included a 41-yard touchdown run. According to CBS Sports, Matt Breida suffered an ankle injury on Sunday which could allow Mostert to rejoin the running back rotation if Breida were forced to miss time.

3

Running back - Brian Hill, Falcons (29 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown)

A fifth round pick in 2017, Hill finally was able to reach paydirt for his first career score. He has eight rushing attempts in the last two games after receiving none in Atlanta’s first six outings.

4

Wide receiver - Chris Conley, Jaguars (4 receptions, 103 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown)

After a strong start to the season (10 catches for 170 yards and a touchdown in the first two games), Conley had been much more quiet for Jacksonville until Sunday. He was able to break open for a 70-yard catch and run for a score in the opening quarter of their win over the Jets.

5

Wide receiver - Diontae Johnson, Steelers (5 receptions, 84 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown)

A third round pick this year by the Steelers, Johnson surpassed his previous season-high of 77 receiving yards and scored for the third time in 2019.

6

Tight end - Ryan Griffin, Jets (4 receptions, 66 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns)

Griffin continues to be thrust into the starting lineup as Chris Herndon has been injured since coming off his suspension. On Sunday, he was able to surpass both his receiving yards (46) and receiving touchdowns (1) from the first six games of the season.
