WWE Clash of Champions will make its return after the iconic pay-per-view event got lost in the schedule shuffle last year. Aside from Wrestlemania, no event has every single belt in the WWE – NXT titles aside – being defended on the same night, and this year’s show has the potential to really up the ante because of the caliber of matches from top to bottom.
But what’s making the 2019 Clash of Champions even more exciting are the juicy rumors roaming around the Internet. And while rumors should always be taken with a grain of salt, every die-hard wrestling fan knows that there’s a 50-50 chance for it to happen.
Here are the five last-minute rumors you need to know ahead of Sunday’s big event.
Fringe partnership
Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman have been chummy with each other despite their looming singles match for the WWE Universal Championship. But before their title clash, these men must set aside their personal agenda in their defense of their WWE RAW tag-team championship against Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. They will find out it’s harder than they thought. Based on the rumors, Rollins and Strowman will lose their titles, paving the way for the Monster Among Men’s heel turn.
The rivalry continues
Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton are entering the second pay-per-view of their rivalry after their SummerSlam match ended in a double count-out. And it seems this feud will drag beyond Clash of Champions, as both men are advertised for Hell in a Cell. Expect their latest duel to be a lot more physical. Now, it would be interesting if Orton can pull off a shocker by pinning Kingston and get another reign as a world champ.
The mastermind revealed
Roman Reigns and Erick Rowan will square it off once again in what figures to be a key match to uncovering the real mastermind behind the series of attempts to hurt the Big Dog. According to SportsKeeda rumors, Daniel Bryan will interfere in the match and finally show his true colors to the world. It has been a slow-burn feud that is destined for a brutal affair inside Hell in a Cell.
The Boss cashes in
Ever since her return on WWE programming, Sasha Banks is hands down the hottest act in the women’s division. The Boss’ ongoing feud with “the Man” Becky Lynch has definitely provided new energy to the RAW Women’s title picture after Lacey Evans and Natalya got their No.1 contender pushes. All of a sudden, things got a lot more interesting again thanks to the presence of a bigger, meaner boss. A Banks win would only prolong this money-making feud.
Welcome To Hell
Speaking of the hottest act in the business, there’s no wrestler or entity can even lay claim on that title but “the Fiend” Bray Wyatt. Judging from the reactions from the fans following his SummerSlam appearance, the Fiend’s legend will only get bigger and bigger. On Sunday, expect the Fiend to interfere with the Strowman-Rollins match, setting up the stage for a triple-threat match at Hell in a Cell.
