Unfortunately in a sport like football, injuries are bound to occur. Week 1 saw players that will be forced to be placed on IR, which will force them to miss the season or at least eight weeks of the year.

Here are six notable players who will go on IR due to a Week 1 injury. Missing from the list is Tyreek Hill, wide receiver for the Chiefs. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, his clavicle injury will force him out of action for 4-6 weeks, but he will not be placed on IR for now.

1

Jonathan Abram - S, Raiders

A torn labrum and rotator cuff will force Abram, the 27th overall pick in the 2019 draft, to likely miss the rest of the season. Despite suffering the injury in the first quarter, he still played 77 percent of the snaps in Week 1, according to Pro Football Rumors.

2

Quincy Enunwa - WR, Jets

For the second time in three years, Enunwa has seen his season come to an end prematurely due to a neck injury. He signed a four-year/$36 million extension with the Jets back in December.

3

Nick Foles - QB, Jaguars

Foles will be placed on IR, but he will be eligible to return (if healthy) in Week 11. The team’s starting quarterback broke his clavicle in his first game as a member of the Jaguars.

4

Devin Funchess - WR, Colts

Just like Foles, Funchess broke his clavicle and will be placed on IR, where he must miss at least the next eight games. Funchess agreed to a one year/$10 million deal to join Indianapolis in the offseason.

5

Malik Jackson - DT, Eagles

A Pro Bowler in 2017 with the Jaguars, Jackson will miss the rest of the season with a Lisfranc injury to his foot. During the offseason, Jackson signed a three-year/$30 million contract with $17 million guaranteed to join Philadelphia.

6

Chris Lindstrom - G, Falcons

The 14th overall pick in the 2019 draft, Lindstrom will not play again until at least November. He broke a bone in his foot during Week 1 action and will be placed on IR with the option to return.
