Quentin Tarantino's ninth film 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' draws fans into a story focused on struggling actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and friend and stuntman Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt), and actress Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie). While 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' tells a fictional story centered on Dalton's career struggles, Tarantino uses the real-life Sharon Tate murders and the Manson family as a backdrop for the film. Tarantino rewrites history so that the Tate murders never happened. Instead, the Manson Family ends up targeting Dalton and Booth.

Was Rick Dalton fired from 'The Great Escape?'
Rick meets 'Lancer' series lead James Stacy who asks Rick if it's true that he lost the 'The Great Escape,' lead to Steve McQueen. Rick claims to have never had the opportunity to audition. But fans are left wondering what really happened. As the two talk, we are shown clips of 'The Great Escape,' but with Rick as the 'Cooler King.' It's unclear whether these are actual flashbacks or if it's just Rick's dreams of what it would have been like to be the lead instead of the heavy.
Did Cliff Booth really beat Bruce Lee in a friendly bout?
While Rick is busy shooting 'Lancer,' Cliff heads back to Rick's home to fix a broken antennae on the roof. While on the roof, he flashes back to being on the set of 'The Green Hornet,' in 1967. Rick managed to secure some work for Cliff, Cliff ended up getting kicked off the set after getting into a friendly contest with Bruce Lee. Cliff ends up throwing Lee into the side of a car, leaving a sizable dent. Could Cliff really manhandle a fighting legend such as Lee?
Did Cliff kill his wife?
Cliff seems like your friendly stunt-double friend. He has a dark cloud hanging over him. Many in the industry appear to believe that he killed his wife and got away with it. We are shown a flashback in which Cliff is on a boat with his wife who is continually insulting him. At one moment, Cliff has a harpoon pointed right at her, but then the scene cuts away and is never mentioned again. This scene also draws similarities to the mysterious death of actress Natalie Wood.
Why did Charles Manson go to Sharon Tate's home?
Charles Manson only made one appearance in this film. He visits Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate's house looking for "Terry." Manson eventually sends four of his followers to the home to kill everyone inside including Tate and three of her friends. In Tarantino's version of history, Rick and Cliff manage to kill the Manson followers after they turn their attention towards them instead.
Does Rick ever land a role in a Roman Polanski film?
As Rick struggled with the state of his career, he longed to work with Roman Polanski, who lived right above Rick's house in January 1969. Just the sight of Tate and Polanski cheered up Rick. Rick and Cliff ended up saving Sharon's life and Rick finally gets to meet Polanski for the first time. Does this intervention allow Rick the opportunity to star in one of Polanski's films?
Does Charles Manson send more people to kill Sharon Tate?
At the end of the movie, Rick and Cliff managed to prevent the murder of Sharon Tate and end up killing the three Manson followers that tried to kill them all. Now fans are wondering what is keeping Manson from sending more of his family members to finish the job. Dalton and Booth could also now be targets.
What is the deal with the Batman contest heard during the credits?
'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' features two end-credit easter eggs. The second tag features audio of Adam West (Batman) and Burt Ward (Robin) promoting a local radio contest. The contest was actually real and was held in 1966 not long after 'Batman' debuted. The prize was a tour of the Fox lot with West and Ward in costume.
