After looking at the best recent draft picks for 19 different teams, it's time to now look at the Seahawks who have the 21st overall pick in April's draft. Chad Reuter of NFL.com has them selecting cornerback Byron Murphy out of Washington with that pick in his latest mock draft.
Since 2000, the Seahawks have made the playoffs 12 times and advanced to the Super Bowl three times (won once). They had back-to-back appearances in the 2013 and 2014 seasons, and it is no surprise that many of the players on this list were on those teams.
Note: Only time with the Seahawks is considered for this list. Where they were drafted makes a difference - meaning this isn't exactly a "top-ten players drafted by Seattle since 2000" list. Some late-round draft picks that didn't quite make the list but had solid careers with the team include Rocky Bernard (fifth round, 2002), J.R. Sweezy (seventh round, 2012), and Chris Carson (seventh round, 2017).
Russell Wilson, QB - 3rd round, 75th overall (2012); time with Seahawks: 2012-present
Owning an impressive 75-36-1 record as a starting quarterback, Wilson already owns a Super Bowl win and five Pro Bowl trips on his resume. He has thrown for 25,624 yards and 196 touchdowns and ran for 3,651 yards and 16 scores. Left tackle Duane Brown believes that Wilson should throw the ball more in 2019 according to NFL.com.
Richard Sherman, CB - 5th round, 154th overall (2011); time with Seahawks: 2011-2017
One of the premier shutdown corners while with the Seahawks, Sherman made four straight Pro Bowls from 2013-2016 and was named a First Team All-Pro three straight years from 2012-2014. He intercepted 32 passes altogether with Seattle.
Earl Thomas, S - 1st round, 14th overall (2010); time with Seahawks: 2010-2018
Six Pro Bowl appearances and three times a First Team All-Pro makes Thomas one of the most decorated safeties of his time. During his Seahawks tenure, he picked off 28 passes and forced 11 fumbles.
Bobby Wagner, LB - 2nd round, 47th overall (2012); time with Seahawks: 2012-present
Wagner, a middle linebacker, has accumulated 16.5 sacks, four touchdowns (three on fumble recoveries, one on an interception), and 981 tackles so far in his career. He has been named to the last five Pro Bowls and was a First Team All-Pro member in four of those seasons.
Kam Chancellor, S - 5th round, 133rd overall (2010); time with Seahawks: 2010-2017
Unfortunately a neck injury suffered in 2017 has likely ended Chancellor's career. The four-time Pro Bowler started 93 games for Seattle and intercepted 12 balls while also forcing nine fumbles.
Shaun Alexander, RB - 1st round, 19th overall (200); time with Seahawks: 2000-2007
The 2005 MVP, Alexander led the league with 1,880 rushing yards and 27 rushing touchdowns that season. That was the last of five straight seasons in which he ran for at least 1,175 yards and 14 scores.
Steve Hutchinson, G - 1st round, 17th overall (2001); time with Seahawks: 2001-2005
While he played just five seasons with Seattle before leaving for the Vikings, Hutchinson was one of the best guards in the league during his Seahawks tenure. He started 68 games with the team, was named to the Pro Bowl three times, and twice was named a First Team All-Pro.
K.J. Wright, LB - 4th round, 99th overall (2011); time with Seahawks: 2011-present
Wright has started 108 games for the Seahawks and was named a Pro Bowler in the 2016 season. During his career, he has recorded 744 tackles, 11.5 sacks, and 10 forced fumbles.
Max Unger, C - 2nd round, 49th overall (2009); time with Seahawks: 2009-2014
Unger started 63 games for Seattle before he was traded to the Saints in a deal that netted them tight end Jimmy Graham. He made back-to-back Pro Bowls in 2012-2013 and was named a First Team All-Pro in 2012.
Lofa Tatupu, LB - 2nd round, 45th overall (2005); time with Seahawks: 2005-2010
Injuries helped to derail Tatupu's promising career as he played just six seasons in the NFL. The first three of those saw him named to the Pro Bowl though as he combined to make 335 tackles.
