The Philadelphia Eagles lost a heart breaker to the Philadelphia Eagles during their divisional round game over the weekend. It's been a year since the Eagles claimed the Lombardi trophy. The Eagles were lucky enough to even make it into the postseason, thanks to the strong performance of Nick Foles this season. As they head back home, the Eagles must resolve several situations that face them.
Next year's Eagles team will definitely be different than what fans saw this season. If they want to make a serious run back to the Super Bowl, they need to make several serious moves, and in doing so there are a few decisions they should make.
Consider QB trade offers
Philly does not need to trade away both Wentz and Foles; however their trade value is sky high this offseason. This year's incoming quarterback class in the NFL draft is the weakest in years, and QB-needy teams will be looking for starters, in other ways, whether it be free agency or trade. The Eagles are facing the option of declining Foles' team option, which would make him a free agent. They could also consider keeping Foles and trading away Wentz if the offers made were too good to pass up.
Keep Brandon Graham
Brandon Graham has been the Eagles strongest pass rusher and run defender. In 2018, he recorded four sacks but continued to put pressure on quarterbacks all season. Philly's cap situation is not good for keeping Graham. Graham may be willing to take a slight pay cut to continue his career with the only team he's played for.
Find Jason Peters' replacement
Jason Peters is nearing the end of what has been a Hall of Fame career. He's been a true offensive star for the Eagles offense. However, at 36 years old, his time is quickly winding down, meaning the Eagles need to find a replacement quickly. The Eagles could consider using their early draft picks to find a new offensive tackle. They could also find someone in free agency.
Find a replacement workhorse running back
The Eagles running game suffered some losses as Jay Ajayi went down with a torn ACL in October, and the Eagles backfield has been disappointing this season. Ajayi becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Release Nelson Agholor
Nelson Agholor has struggled in Philadelphia. The Eagles receiver only caught 59 passes for 648 yards and three touchdowns in his first two seasons, before getting stronger over the past few years. Agholor has a team option of $9.4 million, meaning it's time to move on from him. Alshon Jeffery could become the No.1 option.
