Top 5 NBA guards heading into the 2018-19 season

He's a two-time NBA MVP, three-time NBA champion, and he may be on the way to more of those before his career is over. Steph Curry is at the top of the league, right now, thanks to stellar shooting and stats. Per ESPN, Curry had a staggering .675 pure shooting percentage last season. That certainly has him among the best guards of all-time.

The reigning NBA MVP is looking to build upon last season's success. His team nearly knocked off the defending champs in the Western Conference Finals. With CP3 back, and Melo joining the party, it should get quite interesting in Houston.

Yet another of the recent NBA MVPs on the list of top guards. Westbrook got good news this offseason, when teammate Paul George decided he was going to re-up with the team. Now the question becomes whether this duo has what it takes to make some noise in the tough Western Conference.

Lillard seems to be the quiet star of the bunch; a highly underrated guard in the league, who doesn't quite get his recognition. Some people may look toward players like John Wall or Kyrie Irving. However, Lillard has been super consistent and mostly healthy these past several seasons. Time will tell if he remains loyal to Portland, or goes in search of success elsewhere.

He was sidelined at the worst time last postseason, so the team is hoping to have him fully healthy this go-round. CP3 has led the league in assists and steals several times. He's currently No. 9 on the all-time assists leaders list and trails Gary Payton by 258 for the No. 8 spot.
